Title: 80's Hair Metal/rock
Description: Anybody....?

LoveThing - December 8, 2005 03:57 PM (GMT)
Anybody into 80's hair metal/rock like:

Whitesnake,
Bon Jovi,
Europe,
Def Leppard,
Tesla,
Starship etc.....

Sure, I'm into Def Leppard and Bon Jovi, but thats about as far as it goes - before it gets to glam for my liking. The 80's were pretty heavy rocking!

Satch Boogie - December 8, 2005 09:17 PM (GMT)
LOL! Yeh, I was into Def Leppard, Europe, Whitesnake, etc when I was younger! Still listen to a bit now and again, but I prefer thrash though.

I like lots of hair metal bands (George Lynch is one of my favorite players) and other (real metal) bands like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. I know that hair metal bands still get tons of criticism but I will take pretty much any hair metal band (even Poison!!) over most of the processed crap the recording industry is pedaling these days.

Definately was into Def Leppard back in the day. Hysteria has to be one of my favorite albums and of course Pyromania, High and Dry, etc.

Also-
Cinderella - Night Songs
White Lion-Big Game
Guns and Roses-Appetite For Destruction
Bon Jovi - Slippery When Wet
Ratt-all albums
Winger-Winger
Warrant, Tesla, Faster Pussycat, Britney Fox, etc, etc, I could go on.

hell i love those bands right now - bon jovi were probably the first real rock band i got into and whitesnake and white lion are 2 of my favourites at the moment. its unfortunate many of the bands dont tour anymore or have changed quite alot. I'd have loved to see Whitesnake with Vai. i must check out the other bands you guys have mentioned - there are a few i am not familiar with

:) I LOVE all of it!!

Here's My Top 5:

1 - Whitesnake
2 - Dokken
3 - Ratt
4 - Bon Jovi
5 - Guns N' Roses

The 80's was when people actually PLAYED guitar... never was there a song without a solo! :)

My top 80's

Metallica
Ratt
Whitesnake
Scorpions
Dokken
Judas
Winger (almost ashamed to admit that one!)
AC/DC

Thats all I can think of right now, once I discovered Satch with the SWTA album, I was hooked and did not listen to much else...

There are some great players in that list!!

Vito Baretta
Reb Reach
Warren DeMartini

I would definitely trade hands with any of those guys!

There is really nothing like 80's rock. You don't hear the good harmonys (like Def Leppard) with a rockin' guitar solo anymore. I absolutely love Def Leppard (have all their albums), Journey, Ratt, Bon Jovi, Scorpions, GnR, Winger, Warrant, Tesla, Cinderella, Whitesnake, I love them all! It is just a shame that today's rock has lost the edge that rock back in the day had.

yep i'd have to agree with you guys. do any of you guys think that there will be another "shred"-era again as seen in the 80's or another "hair" metal scene?

if so, i think it would be much better than the new stuff coming out now LOL.

the 80s produced some kickass guitar players. Eddie van Halen is probably my favourite guitarist, and richie sambora is awesome too, not just in guitar playing but in attitude too. unlike many of todays pop stars they were energetic and their music came from the soul. i guess its hard to get into music from the soul when it comes from a songwriters soul...

Bahamut - March 20, 2006 11:50 AM (GMT)
Mostly Deep Purple, Queen , Whitesnake , Rainbow i was listening to in the 80's

I still love the pop/rock solos of the 80s like the solos in Bryan Adam's Cuts Like A Knife, Don Henley's Dirty Laundry ( Steve Lukather if im not mistaken ), Tears For Fears' Everybody Wants To Rule The World, Yes' Owner Of A Lonely Heart ( Trevor Rabin ), there are so many to list.....80s rule actually.

Speaking of 80's I love Talking In Your Sleep by the Romantics. :P

always thought that ''secrets that you keep'' sounded a lot like a steve miller pop rock song. you could almost imagine him singing parts of it.

gruskada - March 21, 2006 09:35 PM (GMT)
White Lion's "Blue Monday" got me interested in instrumental guitar. I still think it's a GREAT song.

I got into Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet when it came out, and quickly went out and got, 7800 Farenheit, which I was even more impressed with.

I had front row seats to a Def Leppard concert (my crazy friend camped out over night - I told him I'd go with him, but I wasn't camping out :-)). We were shown on MTV News for about two seconds.
