Title: Schon And Satriani
Description: album guest?

I would like for neal schon to guest on a satriani album. even 3 tracks would be ok with me. he would definitely step it up on a joe album. i have some tapes of schon jamming at bay area music awards in the 80's and he plays stuff that's as composed and memorable as any studio construction.i would even go as far to say that he has more ''tunefulness'' in his playing. joe is a better songwriter and albumm creator, but neal schon can play just about anything very ''professionally''. i'm sure joe would agree.

Neal is recently playing in a band with Jeff Scott Soto on vocals. Neal is awesome and very under rated.
I saw Journey at the L.A. Forum in 1982 on the Escape tour, with opening band Loverboy, yeah that's right, Loverboy, It was like their 1st big audience. LOL ...

Interesting combination... Isn't jeff Scott Soto the original singer from Yngwie's band? Neil is a great one, and he has been around for a long time too. I believe he got his start playing with Santana when he was 15 or 16 years old. Most people also don't realize that Journey was kind of a psychedelic jam band before Steve Perry joined and took them in more of a pop direction.

Also, didn't this combo almost actually happen? I heard that Neil, Sammy Hagar, and Satch were working on getting a supergroup together and had even started writing music when Sammy decided to get back together with VH.

Hi,
Yes, Jeff was the singer on Ynqwie's Rising Force LP (btw: and never got paid).

I went to see Jeff Scott Soto's band Saturday Jan 21st in Anaheim as one of the after NAMM party shows. Good night of Rock 'N' Roll.

Also, did you get the new Journey DVD live in Houston 1981, it rocks !!!
It comes with a live DVD of the MTV concert and a cd of the same show. Definately worth the $15.00. I was so lucky to see them NOV 1982 at the L.A. Forum as Escape was the hottest record everyone was playing at the time (believe it or not). STONE IN LOVE !! LOL ...

Also I have not heard anything of the "Supergroup" project.

And another "odd combination" for a concert I saw was the Scorpions at the L.A. Forum in 1984 (Love At First Sting tour), with BON JOVI opening up for them, and it was their first big gig too !!, LOL .. ooh -ohhh - ohh, you're a little Runaway !! LOL ..

Thanks,
Jeff
:D

I just did a little Google search and apparently Joe and Neil must know each other because they were indeed in a band together. The project even had a name "Planet Us". I'm not sure about the drummer but Michael Anthony was the bass player and Sammy Hagar was the singer. Apparently they had even begun writing music together but it fell apart when VanHalen reformed in 2003.

A little more research reveals...

The drummers name: Deen Castronovo

What would you think of a band with Satch on guitar, Ronnie James Dio on vocals, Billy Sheehan on Bass, and Jonathan Mover or Vinnie Appice on drums ? !! LOL ...

Satch and Dio, definately !!! LOL ...
