Title: Joe's current pedals...

chemicalmagical - June 1, 2005 09:38 PM (GMT)
On the live webcast at www.satriani.com, there's a photo gallery with a picture of Joe's current pedalboard. Can anyone identify all the pedals on there? I have no idea what some of them are! Thanks!

hmmm.... I was curious as to what the Boss pedals were.... I know the DS-1, but I'm not sure what the blue one is, or what the DM-2 is... Also, what is the orange Juice pedal?

Axeshredder - June 2, 2005 05:09 AM (GMT)
dm2 is an analog delay...collectors item...can sell between 200 and 350 depending on condition....the juice is just a power source for all the pedals......there are 2 different wah's....ones a custom made....hope in joes new peavey pedals.....the other boss is the ps5 super shifter...one of the highest priced pedals

no

Does anybody know how he get's the Whammy pedal to track so well? I have a original one aswell, and I can't get it tracking very well - unless I use a BOSS DS1 distortion in front of it - I don't think he uses the DS1 for that - as he mostly uses the amps distortion now!.

He allways uses DS-1. IT addes a bit of fatness to the sound.

It's a very complex setup for me!!!

It's acctually pritty simple and logic if you know what for what. DS1 for main tone control, standard wah effect, wammy ... nice and neet.

Don't think Joe uses the DS-1 all the time now, like he did before when playing live. I've been to performances where Joe states that he's using only the JSX's distortion channels. And they sound very good!

He uses ds-1 to overdrive the signal. The thing with combinig amps distortion with this peadal is to get fatter sound that's it. I had a chanche to try JSX (FINALY!!!!) in my local shop yesterday and the gain is awesome but it's verry brghite, so my guess is that ds-1 adds deepness to the sound. Just listen to Stach latest webcast and you'll hear what I'm talking about.

Cheers.

No, I have to disagree in the interest of discussion. :P At the gig I was at, Joe explicitly stated that he is only using the JSX amp's distortion channels. In fact, here's a picture of his pedalboard at that gig. There's no DS-1 or other distortion pedal on it (except the Fulltone Ultimate Octave Fuzz pedal). And the tone he was getting on that gig was the most amazing guitar sound I've ever heard. On the new G3: Live in Tokyo DVD, Joe also says he only uses the DS-1 for one song.
