Sibanez - February 16, 2006 12:20 AM (GMT)
A list price of over $400 though!?! It sounds amazing but that seems crazy!
GrooveTuber - February 16, 2006 12:32 AM (GMT)
Since I've heard part of Super Collosal I've really wanted one, heh. That thing is amazing! They actually have a blemish one on musiciansfriend for cheaper.
kane_satriani - February 16, 2006 12:35 AM (GMT)
I thought u didn't like the song average joe....?
Gunde - February 17, 2006 05:35 PM (GMT)
That's not cheap pedal....!
Let us know how it is if you buy one.
Axeshredder - February 17, 2006 05:53 PM (GMT)
GC quoted it at $350...that outrageous...i think you can be creative with one or 2 fx mixed ....like an octaver and some type of harmonizer/super shifter should come close
RaSpBeRrY JaM - February 17, 2006 09:48 PM (GMT)
I got something pretty close just using the whammy pedal on one octave lower in harmony. Not identical but close enough to get the same feel.
AverageJoeguitarist - February 18, 2006 12:18 AM (GMT)
I didnt say i didnt like it... and i said nothing about the pedal :D lol
I just said it sounded a bit naff compared to most of his stuff like Surfing, crushing etc...
F00FIGHTER - February 18, 2006 04:19 AM (GMT)
Let me know when one of you guys get one..so I can borrow it for a couple days :D I'll send it back I promise :mad2:

so how is a POG different then a pitch shifter or octave pedal? wont those do the same thing for about 1/4 of the price? just curious
zenmonkey - February 18, 2006 05:35 PM (GMT)
the POG uses several sliders so you can have multiple octaves on the go all at once. Plus it's by Electro Harmonix so it WILL be cool!!
Axeshredder - February 18, 2006 05:41 PM (GMT)
If you make pedals, the smartest thing you could do is send joe satriani a free one....their sales are going to skyrocket. it will be a challenge to reproduce that tone without one but i think it can be done...im curious how much he uses it in the album
GuitarDojo - February 19, 2006 12:15 AM (GMT)
I love my pedals but nothing beats my G Force or Eventide.
mouhsen - August 29, 2007 03:36 AM (GMT)
was going over a long list of pedals and stuff and checking the price vs buying something like a gt-pro.
effect wise, for something like the the POG, why pay 400$ when you can use a gt-pro or a guitar rig and line up as many octave effects as you want :P
just my train of throught.

amen to that.
I think in the near future, digital processors will be the way to go. They are developing at a rapid rate and will get better. I think we are a last breed of guitarists who stick by the traditional hardware approach - getting tube amps, vintage pedals etc...
I think the next few generations of players will be very software driven - just look at the emerging Line 6 Variax and POD, thats value and versatility for money. Sooner or later, the improvements on the current emulations of effects/guitars will get so close to the original that most people won't be able to tell the difference. You can probably pick up an effects unit/software that can accurately emulate hundreds of effects, guitars and amps in the next 5 years.
Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

I am a big software amp sim. user but I don't belive that tube sound will ever be replaced. You just can't get hi gain without real tube amp. You can come close but that's it...
Cabinet sim. are diferent sotry. I had wonderfull results with combination of real guitar amp (vintage50) and revalver's cab sim. witch uses IR files.

I think the pog sounds great!! but can it do much as far as detuning? I'm really looking for the effect that Joe uses in "Why" from the Extremist. Is there anything besides multiple guitars? That's my favorite of his songs and I NEED that effect!!
