Title: Rusty Cooley
Description: holy hell..

Criss - February 25, 2006 04:06 PM (GMT)
Well I thought I'd heard it all after buying one of Michael Angelo Batio's albums...or even Yngwie for that.

Rusty Cooley - This guy is so fast and so good its un-real, but he lacks any kind of feeling whatsoever in his playing - but be sure to check him out just for the *wow* factor...or to say "holy crap" out loud.

I recommend a song called "Dark Matter" by him , totally blows Yngwie and all his neo-classical clones out of the water and off...far away - anyone else seen Rusty ?

check em out :D

Wow he is crazy fast. I like the clips of him playing the 8 string fanned fret guitar. I have read about those but I have never seen one being played.

I am a huge fan of Rusty’s CD, which you definitely need to check out before you label him like that. He’s expressed annoyance at people watching his shred videos and deciding that he’s nothing more than an insanely fast guitarist.

In truth, Rusty plays lots of styles, and he plays them all really great. There are some soft acoustic pieces and some really tender Shawn Lane covers out there.

Rusty is also an amazing instructor. His C.F.H. DVD’s can do so much for anyone’s playing regardless of the type music you want to play on the guitar.

Most of all, Rusty is a really nice guy who doesn’t tear people down like so many guitarists do when they watch his videos online. Besides, even if you were to listen to a track off the album and not like it for anything other than fast technical playing, that’s only because your ear is untrained for that type of music, and you don’t know what to listen for to enjoy it.

That’s exactly why I stopped ripping on people for liking whatever music… (Britney Spears, The Backstreet Boys, Blink 182, or some screaming death metal band) … because I realized the inability to enjoy those types of music was in me. I also know from experience that if you stick with a piece of music you don’t understand, you will eventually if you just listen long enough. Hell, if I'd never given Satch's songs those extra listens (even when I didn't get the music), I would have never discovered the greatest joy of my life - instrumental guitar music. Rusty’s CD was the same way. I went from not liking most “shred” to listening to Rusty, MAB, and lots of other guys in a similar vein.

Here we go again.........another "Rusty" thread ...that will turn into another endless argument . ...alright...continue on.....

InstruMental Case - February 25, 2006 07:24 PM (GMT)
I’m not trying to argue anything. Everyone’s opinion is their own. I was just trying to say that people should avoid jumping to conclusions about Rusty’s music, so that they don’t miss out on great stuff that I’ve really enjoyed.

grijalva - February 26, 2006 03:00 AM (GMT)
Great musician.

cube - February 26, 2006 04:38 AM (GMT)
rusty is a super cool guy too!

motionblur - February 26, 2006 05:34 AM (GMT)
Based on the videos I just checked out plus some others on Google Video, Rusty appears to be another mindless shredder with a monster ego.

Of course, that opinion is solely based on the videos I just watched.

I am very open to be proven wrong. :)

Dave ..i was not refering to you ..reread my post .
ive seen every" rusty" thread turn into a war cause people get very defensive feel the need to edgimakate the people who dont like or understand him or just like to argue to get a reaction .(that is 90%of them right there)
trying to change there point of view creates conflict.
Dave your second post was perfect, short ,to the point and not a " please change your mind" lesson on rusty.
grijalva and cube reacted superbly. good job guys..
he (criss) likes (?) m.b.a. and ingwie so its only a matter of time before he see the light himself.
motion blurr wants to start some shit.....are you going to play into him or ignore him?
be the better man........that goes to all of you "coolio's" out there.
peace ..... :smoke2:

Whis this is true, I think it's worth mentioning that so far, no one has said anything derrogatory about Rusty in this thread - he hasn't been "labeled" anything except really good.

EDIT - ok, maybe I shouldn't scan posts before saying "nobody's said..." Still though, while he's no David Gilmour, you have to keep in mind that what you're seeing on his Chops From Hell stuff is just Rusty demonstrating impressive licks.

GuitarDojo - March 6, 2006 06:39 PM (GMT)
Go to Rocktron.com and listen to the prophesy demo. Rusty is an Awesome musician and guitar player. He is not a mindless noodler!

Rusty is insanely good. I have never bought any of his music though, just heard clips and saw clips from various videos here and there. B)

I've seen it a million times, so i just warned you guys...

Drew - March 13, 2006 06:42 PM (GMT)
As have I, but so far this one's been pretty mature and level-headed. Call me naive, but I think predicting this one's going to hell is maybe a touch premature. ;)

Satch Boogie - March 13, 2006 08:33 PM (GMT)
Rusty is definately not my cup of tea, but hey each to their own I say. ;)

Baldu - March 14, 2006 08:38 AM (GMT)
