Title: Js Prices Around The World
Description: What Do They Cost Where You Live?
FenixBG - April 27, 2006 02:15 PM (GMT)
As we all know prices around the world are completely different. As I live now about 1700 kilometers (that should be about 1200 miles or such?) from my home country I've noticed many different prices for a bundle of goods. (Wouldn't be surprised if I tell you that I study economics... :D, huh?)
As I was a beginner (not that I am an 'intermediate' right now, whatever that might mean) I was looking for a low model of guitars that has a low price and something really struck me as I was looking at a model back home which costed 400 levs which is reaaaly close to 200 euro and 263 US dollars (according to today's exchange rate ^_^ ). The same model in a Japan online shop was 600 dollars!?! I still do not get it why or how.
Now after the loong introduction that had no point at all I want to ask you about the prices of JS guitars that you have encountered and do they differ that much? I wonder how they go around the world.
I live now in Germany and last week was the first time that I saw a JS guitar live -
a JS 1000, the blue one. I totaly freaked out. Anyway, it costs
1566 euro which is about
1938.24 US dollars (the number might be different as I go through our currency to get it.
JS 1000Germany(Magdeburg) - 1566 €/ 1938 $
Germany(online) - 1675 €/ Around 2080 $
Bulgaria - 1762.56 €(fixed) / 2181 $
JS 1200Germany - 1698.00 €/ 2101 $
Bulgaria - 1798 € /2225.38 $
What are the prices in your countries? And most importantly - in the U.S.? Also of other models I just don't have time to list them now, 'cos I got to go. :)

Here in India you can get a JS1000 or JS1200 for somewhere between 1500$-1800$

The pricing here in Germany is really ridiculous, compared to the US. Maybe it's the strong euro...
PhryDom - April 27, 2006 04:21 PM (GMT)
according to
this page:
JS1000 = $1329.95US
JS1200 = $1379.95US

If we are talking used, the a JS1000/1200 costs in the £600-£900 region depending on which finish and condition.
New they are around £1000-£1200.
tTz - April 27, 2006 06:18 PM (GMT)
Yeah, JS1000 is about £1000, and a JS1200 is about £1200.
Isn't it strange how quite a few Ibanez models cost the same amount of pounds sterling as their model name?
ie RG550 = £550
JS1200 = £1200
Wish the same thing applied to the JEM 7s. :P

That's because of import-export regulations. As the Americans are not so in love with the Germans (mostly because they do not support the US in the war campaigns) and now many US imports have much higher prices.
In England however it tends to be the same. 1000 pounds are about 1500 euro...
dunno why...

It all depends who you buy your guitar from (country). Because, there are no Ibanez guitars made in the US, they are either from Japan or Korea. The JS line is built in Japan (atleast the 1000, 1200, ect.) So if you are buying from a US company, you are paying for import fees to get the guitar from Japan to the US and then to Europe. Im not sure if Ibanez's main office is now in the US or not, so I am not sure if all their guitars go through the US, or if they have other offices in Europe and such. So that is just my 2 cents in this.

JS 1000: 1550 euros
JS 1200: 1650 euros
Hope to help ;)

Wow, a lot of those prices are outrageous. Most sites I've looked at sell the JS1000 for $1329 and the JS1200 for $1369. I don't know if any of these sites ship internationally though. If anything, it might be cheaper for you to fly to the US, stay in a hotel or a friend's house for a night or two, buy a JS, and fly back. I'm not economically sound though so my input may be a waste of time. :P

Hoshino (Ibanez parent company) office is in Japan. To sum up in the US: all guitars coming to the US are ordered from and go through Hoshino USA, where they are inspected. Hoshino USA sells guitars to their dealers (east of the Mississippi River) or to Chesbro Music so they can sell to their dealers (west of the Mississippi River) (there are some exceptions to this "rule", like Los Angeles). Internationally, they are sold to a distrubutor, then to your local music store. BUT, Ibanez does own some dealerships, so that can throw a monkey wrench in the whole works.
Just in case anyone actually cared... :sleep:

JS1200 retails in Australia at $3,500...I'm buying one down the Gold Coast (Queensland) for $2,761.
At 'Guitar World' they are one of the biggest Ibanez sellers in Australia, and they offer huge discounts on their guitars.

VERY tempted to get one from the states, £590 + shipping...

Hi Chris,
Don't forget the import costs, it's a pain :S
Radius - August 29, 2007 02:23 PM (GMT)
You can get a JS1000 online NEW in the UK for £1079
EDIT: and a 1200 CA for £999. This used to be the other way round, but I believe it is because the new JS1000s have the Lo-Pro Edge back on, and the 1200 only have the Edge Pro. :hunger:
