Title: The Man is Unbelievable
Description: Who has met Satch?
SatchTAT - June 15, 2005 05:54 AM (GMT)
Well I have been very fortunate to have met THE MAN. The first time it was at 4th and B in San Diego CA. The band I was a Roadie for was/and still is called RDG. Ray Digiorgio Group. Ray has been totally influenced by Joe, Joe is his GOD. Well we went to the show and we had our Hummer stretched there, with our manager and a few of the band members. We hung out for awhile and here comes a blazer or something and i see that it is Joe. I don't yell it out, but I tell the crew and of course Joe has his hat on. lol. So i went up to him shook his hand very carefully, and he signed my jean jacket and guitar, He was really friendly posed for pictures and all. he signed like 4 of our guitars a few other things hats, jackets, cd's etc. then it was into the show. So awesome so crispy. UNBELIEVABLE. Then after the show we took him in our hummer drove him around went back to the hotel, rapped a little then left. Then in the morning our hummer picked him up and brought him to the airport. Our manager purposely left his accoustic in the back and Joe picked it up and played it the whole way then he signed it and he was off.
The next time We saw him at Humphrey's By the Bay also in San Diego. We had backstage passes, this was the G3 Tour. after the show We met Satch again, signed more things took pics, signed the pics we took of him last show. I had him sign my arm lol, told him I was going to get it tatted. I also had Vai sign below it, but thought better not getting Malsteem to sign it, because he was wasted. i did have him sign the back of one of his picks though it was funny. anyhow I got the autographs on my arm tatted, but Joe or Vai hasn't seen them yet. will get someone to take a picture of it and I will post it. Thanks for listening. Sorry so lengthy. Jody Holten 35/m/WI

Yeah, if there is a guitar around, Joe's gonna play it, he's constantly picking at the strings...

I met HIM (not meaning the finnish band) and Steve last year, when they were in Finland at G3-tour. Joe was really nice and had time to chat with all fans who had a backstage pass to meet&greet.
I had that backstage pass because I won the local radiostations Joe Satriani contest eventhough I never participated. I was listening the show and they asked "what famous cartoon character is in JOE´s FIRST disc cover?" I instantly said to my wife, that they accept Silver Surfer for the answer and I tried to call but never got through. So after awhile they anounced winner and the right answer (or at least what thet thought).
So I went to my computer and wrote a little bit angry letter and said that the right answer depends if we take his first EP counted. But anyway silver surfer is NOT the right one. Then it went weeks and weeks and I never got any respond. Then 3 days before the gig, they called me and said that of course they have make a HUGE mistake and definately I would be the winner of the contest because I responded during the program. So then I got to meet Joe. I had allready seen him at stage at Pori Jazz festival a couple pf years before during the Engines tour.
I also get my best Joe memorabilia signed; A one-sided clear blue vinyl maxi-single Always With Me, Always With You from 1987. I got it signed at the local recordstore, where Joa was a little bit amazed when seeing it. He also showed something from the vinyl to ZZ who was with him at the store.
Then later in the evening Joe told me what he was showing from the record. He just checked if it was the first pressing, because the first one has between those last spins a text JOE LOVES RUBINA. My record has that text, so I would be interested what would be price of that vinyl nowdays. It has NEVER been played, because I had allready the CD.
PS. Sorry about my written english

I met Joe at the in-store appearance he did at Daddy's Music about a year ago in Boston - watched him do a set demoing the new JSX from about 5 feet back for maybe an hour or so (I posted some pics here ages ago, but we switched servers over at www.sevenstring.org sicne then so they're probably no longer up), and then did the handshake and spoke with him briefly on the way out.
It was an inspiring show, watching the guy rip it up from that close.

I have got to meet the MAN twice, first time was at the Meet & Greet at the G3 with Yngwie, he had the flu but was kind enough to hang out and talk. The second time I met him I got to spend about 45 minutes with him, he signed about 5 of my cd's and dvds, he signed my buddies guitar, gave me about 12 pics from his own pocket and he autographed the dashboard of my pickup truck! He was very gracious and never once acted put out!
He is the best!
