The Kreep - May 8, 2005 01:05 PM (GMT)

rygelxvi - May 10, 2005 07:40 AM (GMT)
Damn hot thingy, not only from the outside, but also what U hear.
It has idd. something like a spiced up version of the JCM2000.
(my nosecap is still wiggling when I think about it)
Unfortunately we have to make choices in live, we can't buy everything :(
(saving for a Joe guitar AND saving for my Son's his first guitar, and in the meantime we have to eat, pay bills :/ )
Eric - May 10, 2005 08:05 AM (GMT)
woohoo, saving for your son's guitar!! You're a hell of a dad! :D :clap2:

Shawn - May 16, 2005 12:09 AM (GMT)
The new JSX is definately an amp that I've been craving.
I've heard alot of great things about them except that they are affordable
I would love to get my hands on one.
The live webcast displays the JSX in the background when Satch is playing and wow! :hyper:
Eric - May 16, 2005 07:01 AM (GMT)
Just imagine, that JSX with a Chromoboy in front of it :hyper:

i have many times but 4000 is just too much
Eric - May 19, 2005 07:00 AM (GMT)
You should be able to find one for about 2000 if you're satisfied with a less/non mint Chromeboy! I've bought mine for €2200, but it has a little spot on the body where your arm rests... still a awesome guitar!!!
Axeshredder - May 19, 2005 05:58 PM (GMT)
well i hear they dent and nick real easy......i caught a glimse of the back of Joes in October...whew what a mess!!!....lol....but also I like the phase switch that was added this year....ill seek one in the future......id be happy witha js1200 at this point...ive hesitated because i dont want another red one.....i wish there was another color option

ALL JS's dent easy... the basswood body's are very soft... I suppose the base of the Chromeboys are also Basswood and that is eh SOOOFT...
So be gentle with that body...
Eric - May 19, 2005 07:57 PM (GMT)
NO chromoboy is PLASTIC!! Lithite or something like that! And I'm gentle, you bet!
But if you're a bit careful then your chromeboy will endure!
Only new chromeboys (actually alumiboys: JS2PRM) are made from wood. Just check this topic:

Guys. I have a XXX half stack. I believe that the clean channel is better on the JSX, but what about the two gain channels? Are they any different?

verry...
the Ultra is close to the XXX
the Crunch is much smoother
And I always hated the sizzling XXX noise gate on mine... the JSX has a Noise Gate that is more of noise Reducer
Just try and compare... ^_^

Thanks bro :beer3:
Just a couple of other questions:
1) In your opinion, is the JSX worth the extra £400 on top of the cost of the XXX?
2) What cabs do you use with your JSX's?
Axeshredder - June 4, 2005 06:49 PM (GMT)
if tone is important to you then its worth it.....but my line 6 flextone 3xl for 700 does some great tone like Joe and then some...but i use it for rehersals studios and it blows away any half stack around
i use a xxl cab but bought it temporarily till the jsx cab comes out....sounds great and quite less than the xxx cab

Actually, that's a common misconception - Chromeboy, like all the original JS2's (I think that was the model designation, although they never went into production), is made of basswood. Ibanez built a couple before they realized that, as the wood would expand and contract, the chrome finish would begin to crack. They opted to cancel production, and ten years down the road used luthite when they released the JS10th (not that the finishes were in any way flawless, then, lol)
So, the new 2PRM is actually the first production guitar Ibanez has sold that's really what Joe's been playing all these years. ;)
First post, by the way - saw that and just had to create an account to share. ;)

welcome to the forum!
Hahahah... I think Eric was referring to his JS10 chromeboy, and not the actual chromeboy that Joe plays...
also, I think that Joe has stated that he plays the JS1200CA (almost stock except for original Edge bridge), so that is actually a production model that he uses. Also, I do believe the JSPRM production model has an added phase switch that Joe doesn't have on his (check out G3 video).
Eric - June 5, 2005 11:13 AM (GMT)
Hey Drew! Welcome to the forum! :)
About the wood-luthite (JS2CH vs JS10th respectively), I know that, thank anyway for pointing it out!
@Chemicalmagical: I think Joe hasn't been plaing the PRM, he just plays his chromeboys, which don't have that additional phase switch.
chemicalmagical - June 7, 2005 03:24 AM (GMT)
Eric,
Joe has retired his Chromeboy for some time now, after Pearly was stolen. The "chrome" guitar you see on the new G3: Live in Denver DVD actually has an aluminium finish, similar to the JSPRM.
Drew - June 9, 2005 09:08 PM (GMT)
My bad - the discussion was on Joe's personal Chrome Boy originally, then I guess you started talking about Chromes in general, Eric?
Anyway, sorry to come off like a dick.
And yeah, the RBM is based on his latest custom - basswood body, covered in a thin layer of aluminum, and then chrome'd is what I'd heard. I'd have to check for the phase switch (which, granted, might be a recent addition), but he started showing up with a suspiciously "clean" chrome around the time of Engines of Creation... I've heard no exact collaboration from Joe, but the first rumours came out about new aluminum chromes during that tour, I think, so I'm wondering if maybe that was it...?
