Hi,

I introduce myself first I am max, from China and now in Australia.
I have a Boss ME50 effects, Ibanez rg550 guitar and Roland cube15 Amp(a little bit small). I want to ask who use similar equipment and know how to set a tone like Joe????

I tried for several days:... but still not really similar.

So ask help from you superiors:)
Thanks a lot

Hi Max!
Welcome to the forum!

to answer your question:
I think that having a Ibanez JS makes a huge difference in sound. But you could always try to experiment with some distortion types on the ME50. I don't know if the ME50 has jsut like the GT60 COSM pedal modelling? I use a Marshall patch on my GT6, which is standard but sounds good... just tweak a bit with the distortion and you may find a sound that suits you :)

You need:

A tube amplifier, with a fairly robust crunch channel.
A Distortion Unit such as the DS-1.
A humbucking guitar.

But can I ask, why do you want to sound like Joe? Would you not rather sound like Max?

:D Thank you so much:) kev brigden

Actually just like you said, haha it is good to have my own tone:) but I am not playing that good, and also not good in use effects, so just want to practise some of his song. And thought it might be suitabe to use similar tone :smoke:

I gonna record some cover songs as my first attempt B)

listen the CD times and times again, make sure the tone is in your mind.

then tweak whatever you have to the most simiar satch tone.

How about a JSX and a JEM10th ?

I still searching for a good Reverb/Delay/Chorus/flanger unit to put in the effect loop....

:)

You have a good guitar and If you change the pickups on that one to Swinesheads or Bareknuckles, you'll have a pro guitar. If I were you, I would buy a good tube amp like Peavey XXX Super 40 or an Engl Thunder and than, you'll sound much better.

What I did is I bought an Ibanez RG and put in a DiMarzio FRED in the bridge and a PAF Pro in the neck. Taking the cheaper way out but to have the same pickups definately helps. You might want to incest in a multi effects pedal like the GNX 3000 or GNX 4 where you have several amp and effects options all in one.
