Title: Guitar Theory

What the heck is that? It seems like I can't seem to understand this from reading crap by stupid musicians who tries to literate. Majors, minors? thirds and stuff? How is a chord named? I don't think it's hard understanding this but I think musicians can't explain for crap. I'm taking third semester calculus for christ sakes! Can someone explain to me fundamental music thoery or recommend something that is comprehensive? I learned alot of scales and chords but I don't know what to do with them.

Hehe its pretty hard to explain m8 when you have shapes and chords you don't understand or know what they are :o
I can try explain a touch to you, although theory's are dependent on who you talk to.
Majors and Minors are the basic shape to all scales or chords, they are probably the most used to.
I guess the best way of understanding it is like picturing a tree when its young, its quite skinny and not much to it, it has its basic branchs but not much more, as it develops it starts growing new branchs, these branchs are related to the base branchs(the first branchs on the tree), so picture your Major and Minor chords/scales like this, they are basis to all chords and scales, anything that is beyond that is a form of a Major or Minor.(lol thats probably the most simple way ive explained it haha)
A even easier way to nail down what your playing is this, Minors always sound moody, sad, or somewhat evil lol, Majors are happy, soul filling, tear moving sounds(i actually had a book which quoted this lol).
If your struggling with reading what a chord consists of or a scale(lets say you have a illustration but can't understand what its telling you), then its quite easy to understand m8.
Heres a grea site to learn from, this shows where to put your fingers for Scales and chords, even gives you a sound click so you know if your playing the right thing, i think you will find this extremly useful m8 ;)
