Title: Line 6 Podxt Live
Axeshredder - August 13, 2006 05:24 PM (GMT)
Just bought it this weekend and pleasantly surprised i can get my exact tone that i get from my Flextone III XL. ....and alot more. I mainly got it because im getting tired of payin for rehersal rooms that i have to carry the flextone with me because the amps blow even in the expensive rooms. I still havent tested it there but im confident it can do the job. Any pros or cons you would like to share about this unit would be appreciated. Thanks

hmm..what? no one ownes one around here.....I have a whole lotta pedals to sell IM me.
I guess if Joe doesnt use one it gets no interest?.....well who knows what he has at home....using it live would cause issues w/ Peavy but ill bet hes played and enjoyed...i know if i was Galen i would say "Hey Joe, check this out!"..lol ;)

Sorry Axe, I am a vox man.
I dig the Tonelab, and would probably plump for the Tonelab SE. Although I have heard some very encouraging things about this.
Apparantly this version has a lot less anti-aliasing than previous pods.
I can't verify this for myself, maybe you could enlighten us?
But it is still a cool piece of kit. I look forward to hearing some of your wonderful demos recorded with this.
All the best.

Sorry axeshredder I missed this post. I have had one for about 10months and think it is superb. I bought the metal and classic addons too which give you more amp models.
I bought a 535q wah the other week and put it before the pod xt live then into my soundcard and was not happy with the wah's sound but it sounded good just into my fender stage amp so not sure how to hook up my wah and pod at same time to PC and to my amp. Any ideas axeshredder?
Stew
Axeshredder - August 15, 2006 03:50 PM (GMT)
thanks for the reply Neil though i have no clue what anti-aliasing is
Stew i think "Pedal 2" options are made for extension expression/wah pedals...check it out..let me know
the main thing about this system compared to others is the ease of programming and editting, as i am old school and have always bought gear that was the most simplistic to settup and tweak. The technology where you have physical amp adjustment knobs that transpose on the led screen not as numbers but as a visual of the actual knob of where it is presently and where the saved setting is....sound complex but i was able to figure out this unit without instructions in about an hour
stewmunny - August 15, 2006 04:37 PM (GMT)
The other thing I have found with the pod xt live is the realisticnesss of the sound. I had a boss GT6 before and found it very artificial/processed sound ...maybe I was not using it correctly but within minutes of getting the pod i trhought YEAh this thing is the business adn as yuo said axeshredder very easy to program.
Thanks about the advice for the pedal2 avenue i'll give that a whirl and let you know how it sounds and maybe even get some pics of my gear in the order they are.
Stew

Axe, I found this site that describes anti aliasing pretty well:
Anti AliasingYou can really notice it if you play notes on the high e string above the 12th fret. The original Korg Toneworks suffered badly from it. It makes the notes sound like they are clipping. Hope that helps a bit.
I like the sound of how simple it is to use, I have to say I have often shyed away from these multi effects units as they are always relly complicated. I tried out the Boss GT8 and it was so complex, and I am a Software Engineer!!!
stewmunny - August 16, 2006 02:11 PM (GMT)
I think it was anti-analysing that the Boss GT6 did and now you mention it E string above 12th fret was most noticeable and describing it as clipping and very fake sounding. The pod amp models are very very lifelike and IMO a good representation of the sounds thaey are supposed to be recreating. It also makes life very easy connecting to a sound card. I use from L and R outputs 2 planet waves cables into a planet waves adapter > 1/8inch stereo jack into soundcard. Editing via Line6 edit couldn't be easier too. :D

Nah, I'm just not an amp modeling fan. ;)
A lot of guys over at sevenstring.org own XTL's though, and the worst I've ever heard anyone say about it as they prefer having their rack gear off the floor where no one will spill beer on it. Considering the guy who said that and sold it is about as fickle as they come, gear wise, that's actually rather an endorsement. :rock2: No way in hell'd I drop my Nomad for one, but Line6 is apparently making progress.

I purchased a PODxt (bean version) and I love it. Haven't played around with it enough to notice any "bad" things about it...but I will let everyone know.
The tones you can get from it are pretty incredible.
richardsim7 - August 25, 2006 09:50 AM (GMT)
Yeah man, I've got a PODxt Live, it's pretty cool, and I've got a really nice sound out of it. I'm still having trouble getting a loud clean without it clipping though :(

I actually interested in getting one but i was wondering how is the wah? I am about getting a 535q but if the pod xtl can do the job ( i mean at least for recording on pc) i will bought it first.
So, would it be possible to hear a "satch wah like" sample, it would be fantastic!
Thanks.

does it have a whammy effect?

Hendrix - November 15, 2006 02:50 AM (GMT)
I think that is a great idea. Since I just got a new podxt.
Sonik - November 15, 2006 09:41 AM (GMT)
It would be nice to have a kind of topic dedicated to satch patches!! Let's do it! :rock2:
Hendrix - November 25, 2006 04:19 PM (GMT)
I still haven't figured out how to download patches onto my podxt, yet. Can anyone give me some advice.

Did you install the software that came on the CD? All you need to do is Install Line 6 Monkey, and Line 6 Edit. Run the Line 6 Monkey application and I think it will just make sure that everything is up to date. Then just go to:
http://line6.com/customtoneSelect Pod XT from the pulldown menu (you will need an account if you don't have one). At this point look through some of the patches and select "Get Tone". Attach your Pod XT to your computer with a USB cable. Now open Line 6 Edit and open the patch you just downloaded. I think it will take you through the rest of the steps, like asking you which user preset number to use. Let me know if you get stuck, I hope I did not miss anything.
stewmunny - November 25, 2006 05:24 PM (GMT)
even if you didn't get a CD which i didn't then hook up to usb socket and go to the download section of www.line6.com and register then download line 6 monkey and line 6 edit and the latest firmware for your pod and then off you go to customtone login and save your patch to you pod or create a file onyour pc to store them for later use
seongkeat - December 23, 2006 03:54 PM (GMT)

bubkusjones - January 8, 2007 11:29 PM (GMT)
I'll hook mine up and see if I have anything worthwhile.
Axeshredder - January 8, 2007 11:34 PM (GMT)
for all the patches you can dream of.....just search artist or even the song and you will be pleasantly surprised....the only thing is which one?

Hi axeshreder
which amp you use in podxt live for the tone of Satch? and what stomp? how do u set the EQ??
Axeshredder - June 18, 2007 02:49 AM (GMT)
well the amp to use is treadplate, as far as the EQ, its all in what amp and speaker your using..and the stomp is just your preference
search joes name and even what songs tone and youll find it here...but i would look for the ones that are using the Treadplate amp...gl

Spider - March 16, 2008 05:46 PM (GMT)
I bought a XT Live too yesterday and I have a question: how can I transfer these custom tones downloaded from line6 site onto my pod?
Axeshredder - March 16, 2008 05:58 PM (GMT)
usb jack and download the program..i think its Line 6 monkey
the line 6 site is very helpful on all sorts of issues
Spider - March 16, 2008 06:24 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I connected the usb cable, turn on the program but what option should I choose? Because I dont see matching option...
Axeshredder - March 16, 2008 06:32 PM (GMT)
i dont have it installed anymore. I dont even use it.
but i remeber that you should have it plugged in and the program will show the connnection and all the settings that are loaded in the unit..thats the best i can recall..there were a few cards in the packaging that tell you the programs you need...gl
Spider - March 16, 2008 06:46 PM (GMT)
Ok, I'll keep on trying, thanks.
edit: ok, already solved the problem - Line6 Edit program have this possibility.
