odd trio - October 23, 2006 08:36 PM (GMT)
the mystical potato head groovy thing , or whatever thats called..
Mapu - October 24, 2006 07:56 AM (GMT)
three little words...
A MA ZIN
or in two words...
AWE SOME
Just amazin...
At the beginnin some sound problem had to be fixed but turned ok
Eric Johnson was te first to enter.
He plays lots from his new album Bloom, from "My pages" to again, Bloom.
and some of his classical, Manhatan (Flawless), Desert rose and Cliff of Dover.
Then a little time out, the drum set needed to be changed, and then Petrucci came with his lifetime pal Mike Portnoy and... DAVE LaRUE ON BASE!!!!!
He plays songs from his Suspended Animation Album, there weren't any Liquid Tension nor Dream Theater songs added...
But very well played, and wasn't so quite like in the DVD in Tokyo, he was more energetic (well in his kinda way haha)
and then... The greatest, the unbelievable, the one and only Joe Satriani!!!!!!!!!!!
With the powerfull Jeff Campitelli, Galen Henson and Dave LaRue agaaaain!!!!! ahhaha
1st song on his setlist... Flyin in a Blue Dream, amazin as always
then he wen through all his classical, (Satch Boogie, The Extremist, etc).
After that he makes his Super colossal collection of songs, starting with Redshift Rider,, Super Colossal, Just like Lighting and Crowd Chant.
Then he come back with classical and play the Cool #9 improv intro, Summer Song, and the beauty "Always with me, Always with you", with than ending, that just make all of us to turn our skin into Goosebumps
While they were improvisin, Petrucci Came in, to end the AWMAWY song, with some improv, and then Eric Johnson adds on the line up.
That was the most beatiful endin i have ever seen.
The G3 Jam consisted in Vodoo Chile, Joe Satriani at the Vocals; Red Hous, with Eric on the mic, and ended with Rockin in the Free World.
Well Guys, that's all i have to say, an amazin night and tomorrow i'm goin again!
Sorry for the few words, but i'm still excited plus very exhausted, i have been runnin al the afternoon for this, have cheer all the concert, havent low down a bit.
here i levae you a pic, and i promise More Pics to Come...
See yaa.
el Mapu

PS: funny story, at the lil impro in Rockin, Satch PLayin the Funkytown theme

wasp2020 - October 30, 2006 05:10 AM (GMT)
There's tons of cellphone videos of several G3 shows on youtube (search for "g3 2006"), including some of the AWM jam and everything inbetween. And a lot of them are actually good quality, but obviously, just good for tasty tidbuits ;)
Southpaw Satch - October 30, 2006 10:11 PM (GMT)
U guys r so lucky when i last saw G3 which was on the UK leg of the european tour back in '04, I saw Satch and Vai at their best and an extremley boring and unexciting Robert Fripp, don't get me wrong the guy is talented but when ur set consists of one song lasting 20 minutes, which sounds like a soundtrack for a wildlife documenatry then don't u think thats a little self-indulgent. :mad4: The G3 jam ended up being Vai and Satch at the front of the stage with Fripp at the back of the stage sitting on a stool next to a big rack of effects, it was more of a G2 really. ;)
SRV - November 2, 2006 12:22 PM (GMT)
Look Southpaw Satch, we had the same luck as you....the last G3 on 2004 they come with fripp.... :mad4: , but the thing is that he was on stage like 10-15 minutes...people start to :censored: and come Vai to save the situation...
This G3 was spectacular!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but ihope that satch can came alone someday....i want to heard him more time.....
Southpaw Satch - November 5, 2006 11:16 PM (GMT)
I luv satch and vai they are my biggest influences ever i just wanted to express how disappointed i was with Fripp, thats all... :)
PhryDom - November 6, 2006 12:04 AM (GMT)
oh, no, I detect the stirrings of another Fripp-is-great / Fripp-is-crap conversation!
I'm saying nuthin! LMAO
SirChick - November 6, 2006 01:15 AM (GMT)
What was wrong with Fripp.. not trying to start nothing here....
satriani guy - November 11, 2006 04:28 PM (GMT)
i think robert fripp is cool, though king crimson is kinda wierd
lets not get down that road though,, lets talk about rustey cooley instead    (Just kiddin folks)

SRV - November 24, 2006 07:26 PM (GMT)
Lets see if i remember....he started with FIABD , the cool #9 (with a beutiful long intro..) crowd chant...super colosal...and always with me...that in the "end" of the song, petrucci come and play with him...then jhonson joined...
I cant remember if he played more songs...so , MAPU, if you read this, wirte if you remember ok what was the songs list...
Bye!!! B)
Mapu - November 25, 2006 02:14 PM (GMT)
Hey SRV, i dont remember that good, but i do remember that is almost the setlist (inludin the order) of the SATRIANI LIVE cd/dvd
Lets See
Flyin
The Extremist
Cool #9
Redshift Rider
Satch Boogie
Super Colossal
Just Like Lighntin
Summer Song
Chrowd Chant
AWM, AWY
and then the G3 Jam, are gettin bored.
Vodoo Child
Red House
Keep on Rocking in the Free World (though this one i love it sooo much)
Thats all i can remember.
Now talkin 'bout Eric Johnson, the ones i remember are the followin: (not in order though)
- Manhattan.
- Summer Jam.
- My Back Pages.
- Cliff of Dover.
- TradeMark.
- Desert Rose.
and Petrucci gave us a good dosis of Damage Control, Jaws of Life, Glasgow Kiss (how awesome is this song!!!!), Lost Without you, an many mores that i can't remember
Shame they didn't play any Liquid Tension song, but without keyboards is reasonable.
Hope that helps
see ya guys!
