Title: What's Spinnin In Your Cd Player Nowadays?

motorcycle_driver - September 2, 2006 07:21 AM (GMT)
or ur iPod, or mp3 player, or computer, or tape player.....any new stuff?

Leroy - September 2, 2006 08:51 AM (GMT)
Yeah the new Raconteurs album. really awesome

tschommer - September 2, 2006 10:17 AM (GMT)
I have been trying to buy up some of my old vinyl on CDs. I just found a copy of the first Zeno album. Zeno Roth the groups leader is the younger brother of Uli Jon Roth who was the lead guitar player for the Scorpions between the original lineup with a young Michael Schenker and Matthias Jabs. Pretty good CD.

PhryDom - September 2, 2006 03:16 PM (GMT)
Terria by Devin Townsend... it's mind blowing

odd trio - September 2, 2006 08:51 PM (GMT)

Been listening to Erotic Cakes by Guthrie Govan. Awesome album, this guy is a great guitar player. If you like Vai, then you'll love Guthrie :)

odd trio - September 5, 2006 10:13 PM (GMT)
you should have heard audioslave interviews on rockline-- one of best interviews from a rock band. not that self conscious stuf that scott stapp did when he was on.

tschommer - September 5, 2006 10:41 PM (GMT)
A few more

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy - Save my Soul
Tom Petty - Highway Companion

gruskada - September 6, 2006 06:53 PM (GMT)
George Lynch - Sacred Groove
Gary Hoey - Money
John Petrucci - Suspended Animation
Beatles - Abbey Road
Wendy Carlos - Switched on Bach II

How's the new Tom Petty, tschommer?

Redshift Rider - September 6, 2006 11:19 PM (GMT)
I just bought a Chuck Berry cd that has 50 of his songs on it. Since I only have the 20th century masters one of him which only has 10 songs, and since I've never heard most of these, I got it. And I really love it, especially the live version of Reelin' and Rockin' on there.

At the moment, an acoustic album by Jesse Cook - sort of a flaminco/salsa fusion with some BADASS acoustic shredding over the top.

Though, I just picked up Sunny Day Real Estate's "The Rising Tide" which owns, and rediscovered Floater's "Burning Sosobra." "Exiled" off that disc is about as good as it gets, both musically complex (in a way that doesn't call attention to itself - there's this interplay between a gutiar figure in straight 8ths and a walking bass that swings, that goes into a hard-rock chorus and then back a few times before ending in a heavier reggae outro) and SERIOUSLY rocking.

motorcycle_driver - September 13, 2006 12:19 PM (GMT)
just realised, John Petrucci's intro solo on The Spirit Carries on from Score DVD just rocks!!!! \m/

Rocklegend - September 23, 2006 10:19 PM (GMT)
I´m listening to Queensryche´s Operation Mindcrime....I came across it for the first time in 10years....Mindblowing album.Forgot how great Geoff Tate Sings....what a voice

PhryDom - September 27, 2006 05:43 PM (GMT)
Good call! Excellent album. I also love the way the bass sounds on that album :)

I'm currently cleaning the house (mother visiting in two weeks  ) while listening to Ministry - Sphinctour. Great stuff!

Rocklegend - September 27, 2006 09:47 PM (GMT)
Yeah the bass is incredible....It´s one of those albums that I just didn´t listen to in around ten years or so.I´m rather disappointed in Operation Mindcrime II...Just not enough hooks...

Right now I´m listening to John Williams Munich Score....It´s seriously powerful...incredible score to an incredible movie....

tschommer - September 27, 2006 10:47 PM (GMT)
I just got Jurassic Shift by Ozric Tentacles based on a recommendation by Kane, and I love it.

BTW I may have to give operation mindcrime a listen tomorrow. I was just listening to their debut EP a few days ago. Quensryche are a great band.

PhryDom - September 27, 2006 11:48 PM (GMT)
cleaning kind of over for now, just bought some new storage furniture for the DVDs in the living room, so i'm firing up operation midcrime (and the subwoofer heh heh) as i assemble it :)

odd trio - October 27, 2006 07:18 PM (GMT)
picked up discount dvd , 7 dollars , its a 1970 television show , with varios live acts playing in studio. never even knew about this. how's THIS for a lineup.colors effects swirling in the background , good clear sound. drum roll please... DEEP PURPLE , classic lineup , doing ''highway star'' , shaggy hair blackmore sweeping his hand over the guitar with quick conjuring motions , but other wise keepin head down . then JAMES GANG in power trio format ''walk away''. then SANTANA with NEAL SCHON fringe jacket and pokerfaced expression throughout.didnt play too much of the solos , he was 15 years old... then had JOHNNY WINTER doing a kinda slow strictly blues song , not too much guitar picking. also has FREE with paul rogers and ends with HUMBLE PIE.

odd trio - October 27, 2006 07:34 PM (GMT)
forgot PROCOL HARUM ''simple sister'' but it was NOT robin trower on guitar, probably why i forgot about it. good guitarist though, whoever that was...

odd trio - October 27, 2006 08:05 PM (GMT)
dont want to embarras myself , i looked it up best of ''beat club'' review with santana and purple , according to reviewer that WAS robin trower on ''simple sister''. going to have to check that later. sure looked different , if that was him.

Mat JB - October 27, 2006 09:41 PM (GMT)
