There's got to be some sort of audio forensics tool out there that could at least figure out what the words are, I would think. Any crime-lab worker Satriani fans out there with a little extra time on your hands? ^_^

Actually, I'm going to try out this software, and see if I can figure out anything:

http://www.enhancedaudio.com/free_downloads.htm

Does anyone have access to just the spoken intro part without the guitars?

I have tried working this out as well and I find that if you listen to different live versions of the song; some of these have a fairly clear vocal track that they start at the beginning of the live versions....I haven't found one quite clear enough to work out everything that is being said, but maybe a live version of it could help...

D.

Not a big deal, the one bad thing about this site is that the search function is pretty bad, or at least it was the last time I tried it. There is always going to some repetition on sites like this anyway.

Yeah - the G3 Live In Concert CD with Satch, Johnson, and Vai is the best one I've heard. I'm going to try doing the audio forensics thing next week, after I read the how-to guide. Seems a bit complicated to get good results...

1. I do that anyway, and 2. if it were that easy someone would have figured out the words already ;)

BTW, what is "Dream Theater - Gangland" from? Is that an Iron Maiden cover?

EDIT: just answered my own question: http://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/dre...r_of_the_beast/

How's the quality of this?

yeah, it's a bootleg, and a great bootleg, of DT playing Iron Maiden's The Number Of The Beast to it's entirety. while all the songs are the same, DT play Gangland with a progressive approach, and making the songs seem totally new!!!

i got it from torrents, so check it out!
