I've known about this concert for ages, but never really gave buying it any thought.
i can say i am so glad i did, i love Joe, i love Steve (thats all 3 steves - morse, vai, lukather) but this concert blows them way way away. (comparing to the deep purple concert i went to a while ago, live in SF, and live at the Astoria)
David Gilmour is an inspiration, his solos carry so much power, and he and the band put on the most incredible show you'll ever see. Dave isn't particularly animated, but its all so well orchestrated, fireworks, musicians, extra singers and all, it is the most amazing concert i've ever seen. i wish i could have been there.

If you have not bothered with this dvd before, bother now, i tell ya.

Yeh it truly is amazing!! The light's in this show must be worth millions alone, everything is just done so well i havn't bought this yet guys u kjnow what to do.

Hey "the_alien" u should go see if u can get a copy of roger waters in the flesh live 2000, it's so fucking godd, i'd go as far as to say the performances's musicly r better but the light show and all that coold looking stuff doesn't match pulse, both r extrememly good.

I think I'll add it to my birthday list :)

I read last week that Comfortably Numb won best guitar solo of all time in some poll or other... after seeing Floyd do Live8 I have to say it's an immense solo... and just think - only 21 frets and not a locking trem in sight ;)

yeah, the power he gets in it is incredible. i have taken it upon myself to learn the solos from that song, its really awesome. it can sound quite bad if you don't get the bends right though.
also on that DVD is a "bootlegging the bootleggers" section, where it shows a few songs shot by someone in the crowd. there's a ton of content on there.
a song in that section that has another kickass solo is "on the turning away".

and Sorrow, which i'm sure you guys know.

i'll check out the Roger Waters concert, I don't know if thats the one where he has cars and things driving on a massive stage, but i wasn't too impressed with that. probably because i look for the guitarist, and i don't want a substitute.

i swear though, please do put it on your christmas list, you will not be dissappointed. (and no, i'm not going overboard with the praise. ok, maybe a little ^_^ )
