hey guys... billy cox and company came to town yesterday, it was a rainy shitty day but the hardcore hendrix fans got to experience something not only really kool, but very special. chris layton was solid on the drums all day long - on guitar was eric gales, bernard allison, kenny olson, eric duarte, and others (i was disappointed that vernon reid did NOT make it, however i didn't realize that fact until after the show - i asked billy why, he quickly said 'basically if you're not there at the signing, you don't play'). i walked with billy (and his wife) from damn near sidestage uninterrupted for a hundred yards or better to where he stood by a CD booth and signed autographs - it was surreal to hang and chat with a living legend, and somebody i have seen in so much hendrix film - what a fantastic personality - i had both him and his wife laughing, and mentioned a few intricate details of the past that he seemed surprised i would know for having been born after jimi's untimely death. at the CD booth, i lit eric gales cigarette and helped him open CD's to sign - very kool kat - and eric duarte, wow, what a talent - both him and kenny olson really let the passion fly onstage. amazing - definitely a day i'll never forget... * billyd on LEFT, Billy Cox, & my best friend Doug on the RIGHT
