Title: I Just Noticed...
SirChick - October 21, 2006 03:15 PM (GMT)
At the Live in in the Anaheim where he plays songs from is other albums, he's playing Flying in A Blue Dream down half a step. Any one else noticed? The reason i noticed, is cos War is played in standard D# and it links straight into Flying In Blue Dream.... thats the first time ive seen him play FIABD in a diffrent tuning. Or maybe i watch his videos too much and no one is all that shocked by this story :P

he played it in standard, but he played war up half a step

yup. he's been playing War in standard tuning and not D#. so technically, he's playing war half a step higher and not FIABD halfa step lower.

Is it ment to be one step higher ? Cos i just recorded in one step lower!

play in the same key as the backing track - not the original song!
SirChick - October 21, 2006 07:58 PM (GMT)
Cant some one make a backing in the key of D# for me !!! I dont wana change my finger patterns!!
I would have to uptune the guitar to be able to bend the 22nd to 24th and be in key, cos i dont have a 24 fret neck. And its hard to bend the string when the string is even more tighter. I struggle as it is, hurts like shit beding it!

you don't have to change the finger patterns, it's the same patterns, just up a fret
btw - although D# is correct, more people are likely to understand you if you refer to it as Eb (E flat)

I cant see why, same thing ! lol

i know, but more people are used to e flat, some thickos just get confused when you call something a different name
SirChick - October 21, 2006 08:34 PM (GMT)
Then they will learn soemthing new when i talk about it. I dont really wana be talking diffrent to what im used to because dont know much about it. But they can always ask if they dont understand and im happy to explain. Although, never come accross the problem yet :P

The keys of D# and Eb are very very different. Next you'll be saying that the notes A# and Bb are the same too
SirChick - I have downloaded your track, not had time to listen to it yet - still really busy here with Mum. Will get back to you ASAP.

Hmmm, in terms of one single note it would be. But im guessing not a key?
Dont know where your coming from on this, but i know you know something and is waiting for someone to shout at you for talking complete nonsense so you can beat them down with some unknown fact :P
But from viewing my theory sheets, they are the same keys. Except i know there is a diffrent between the two. I read it some where, let me do a bit of research and i will get back to you on this. Dont tell the answer till I find it!
And ok let me know with the song.. ive had a fair bit of negative reply about it.
EDIT: Im thinking its something to do with the amount of flats or sharps played depending upon the key... if you talking about in terms of how it sounds thats not fair! :P Im thinking music theory here.
