Well live, he uses his JSX with peavey Cabs. For the album i duno if the JSX was even built for when that album was made.

Joe may have used a Peavey Triple X or a 5150 i nthe studio cus hes always sayin how he luv those amps, but if u notice on G3 live in Denver he is using a Peavey Triple X. Hope that helps...

I watched a video where he was talking and he said that the first peavey amp he used was a Classic 50 and that he used it on a bunch of albums after he found it. I dunno exactly when that was though.

He was also experimenting heavily with Cornford amplifiers before getting the JSX prototype.

He started saying how he always loved the XXX, 5150, and Classic 30 after he signed on with Peavey - he was strangely quiet about it before. ;)

The XXX in question was, as I recall, pretty heavily modified - I believe it was the prototype for what became the JSX. I think he was recording with it by then, but a lot of the "Starry Night" sound (and a lot of what I DON'T like about it, to be honest) also came from his use of a Palmer Speaker Simulator instead of a cab and mic. They're not cheap, but if you want the "recent" joe tone, any decent tube head, a DS-1, and a Palmer should get you ballpark.

Im not as big a satch-Head-Expert as most guys here but the videos I saw he used Blue Marshall 6100 heads.

I've been going nuts trying to figure out what amps Joe used in the Montreux Jazz festival thats on the DVD that comes with SWTA.. Is it a JTM 45? or a 100 Watt Plexi maybe? I am not a Marshall expert.. any ideas?
