Title: Best Of Live Satriani

gruskada - December 14, 2006 04:54 PM (GMT)
I finally took Satriani Live! out of my daily rotation, so now I'm looking to make a mix CD (only for myself) of the best of live Satriani. I'm looking for high-quality songs, so they pretty much need to come off of real CDs, with the exception of Live in Anaheim, which I guess I'll rip somehow (Joe REALLY needs to sell this).

Anyway, I'm going to use the following songs no matter what, but I thought it would be interesting to hear what you guys thought of the following selections - any other suggestions or different choices?

- Made of Tears (Satriani Live!) - alone worth the price of Satriani Live!
- Rubina (Time Machine) - the drums sound great!
- Memories (Dreaming #11) -don't get to hear this live much + nice intro
- Circles (Satriani Live!) - awesome outro
- Cool #9 (Satriani Live!) - awesome intro
- Time (Live in San Fransisco) - love that sustained note between song sections near the end
- Always With You, Always With Me (Live in San Fransisco) - love the picking sound in this version
- Raspberry Jam Delta V (Live in San Fransisco) - great ending
- Searching (Live in Anaheim) - one of the best live renditions of a song I've ever heard by Joe (great Zeppelin part)
- Ice 9 (Live in Anaheim) - best tempo of all the live versions I've heard
- Psycho Monkey (Live in Anaheim) - good to hear this live
- Bamboo (Live in Anaheim) - great song that's not played live often enough
- Strange (Live in Anaheim) - nice jam

I think Rubina from LISF with that Turkey Man intro kills all improv.

b/c I am sick and tired of hearing Summer Song. However, if I were to put it on there, I'd put the one from Satriani Live! b/c of the cool intro.

Hmm - you may have a point. I'll have to listen to the two again.

I LOVE the live version of Echo, form Time Machine CD 2!!!

Is just amazin, really left the studio version far behind!

I mean, Joe Improvisation befores staring the song, some slaps from the bass player (was it stu?) and the amzin modification of the drum parts!!!

D'oh - you're right. I always get that confused with Hordes of Locusts for some reason.

I think so. Both intros are good, though. I think the Live! intro has the LISF intro at the end of it (can't find my copy of LISF at the moment, though...)
