yeah he played all he European tour as Eric Johnson would appear not to travel this way. He played Glasgow via a combo amp and his sound was excellent....his playing was great. It is good when you get a support act you have never heard of but opens you up to new music. It was like the Vai concert the year before I had never heard any of Eric Sardinas music other than the jam at the end of Live at hte Astoria. Cool stuff indeed.

what amazed me was he would belt out a chord then play a lead line over it but you would swear you were still hearing the chord...thanks for reminding me about this guy as I had meant to go buy some of his music :D

At the G3 show in Boston, Johnny A. jumped up on stage for the jam at the end. It was pretty cool but it was a much different enviornment for him and I don't think his talent was well displayed in it. I saw him in the lobby before the show and thought nothing of it and then Satriani called him up to the stage for the last two songs.

Yeah, I thought he was completely out of his element there. He wasn't "bad," exactly, but he could hardly keep up with Petrucci, Gilbert, or Satriani for straight up bluesy shred, and his tone wasn't really working in the context too.
I was a little disappointed Johnny A stayed up and Bruce Boulliet didn't, to be honest.
