Title: So...satchnotes?
Mat JB - January 15, 2007 04:22 PM (GMT)
Just wondering, is Satchnotes.com ever realistically going to be finished? The "mid-July 2006" date seems over-optimistic to me :P

You think? ^_^
Yeah. It will be finished. I don't give up on things (but sometimes they take a real long time to get done...).
I've got to find a way to make time for it. I've got so many things going on right now personally and at work. Maybe I should just put up what I have, and then build from there.

i agree!
Start your site with what U got and built from there!

Yeah, I think I'll go with that.
Crap - I just checked my database - over 75 people want to be notified when SatchNotes launches, with no publicity other than a few mentions on this site, and a few mentions early on at Satriani.com. I've really got to get working on it!
I just noticed that my host just added a full-blown content management system for free - I'll have to check that out - it might make things a lot easier, and get this process kick-started a bit.

I want to do it. I've been wanting to for a while. I came up with the idea for it when my life was much simpler - now I'm quite busy, and it's honestly probably not going to let up for years, due to decisions I've made (I'll spare you the details).
Anyway, I really want to do it. A few posts on a forum isn't going to force me to do something I don't want to do ;) The interest in the site progress and launch is a big encouragement.
motorcycle_driver - January 16, 2007 03:35 AM (GMT)
i just signed up for the notification...so make that 77!!!
and like Pia says......"just go for it!"
Southpaw Satch - January 16, 2007 10:41 PM (GMT)

Well, ok, since you said "please" B)
Seriously, I am busy beyond belief right now, BUT I just renewed the SatchNotes.com domain name (I've got to contact Netfirms and see why the domain isn't coming up...), so I hope that convinces you that I am dedicated to getting the site up at some point. But to be honest, it will probably be a while.

One more registration. :P
gruskada - July 12, 2007 07:20 AM (GMT)
It WILL launch in August 2007. It's already presentable on my dev server, but a little lacking in info at the time. I'll spend the next month entering more "notes".
Features will include:
- quotes/info from magazines, interviews, webcasts, web sites, videos, etc. about every Satriani song I can find info on
- an open discussion thread for each song.
- Joe's full discography and albums he contributed to.
- random quotes from Joe (a lot more than was posted here a few months ago)
- and more...

Good idea :-) Maybe I'll through something together as a fun parody of "the countdown". Too many things on my plate, though, really.

How about late July, 2007? B) I've launched the site, even though I'm still missing a few parts of it. But, I probably won't be able to get to those for a few weeks, so I figured I'd post what I have.
Let me know what you think, and if you run into any problems. Thanks.

Cool site!
Off the top of my head, there's an excellent interview/lesson on Crystal Planet in Guitar Player from right around when it was released - I think I still have a copy at my parents place. I'm visiting them next weekend, so I'll try to remember to grab it if you haven't found it by then. :) Lots of information about the songs, including in a few cases guitars or amps used, and some cool trivia - for example, "Raspberry Jam Delta-V" was the last track finished, because it was originally supposed to be a Chemical Bros. collaboration, but they had to pull out at the last minute due to other commitments.

Looks great, Dave! Well done!
Did you see Luini's message that kikkerfest is back up?
motorcycle_driver - July 25, 2007 09:33 AM (GMT)
Dave, you can add this to the CP notes! it's as said by Joe during an interview in India! i can show you a photocopy of the interview as proof!
| QUOTE (Joe Satriani) |

Wow, really impressed, that's fantastic.
(noticed a few small errors, like a Killer Bee Bop info in New Blues, not much else, awesome job, love it!)

Cool - thanks. I think I have that one somewhere. I'll let you know if I find it . I do remember the whole Chemical Brothers thing - I thought I remember that the Chemical Bros didn't actually like Joe's demo, but I can't remember where I heard that now.

Hmm. could have been that, it's been years since I pulled the article out.
If I can find it, I'll gladly type up passages for you, if you want, just to give you a hand with getting more content. I think it's a pretty cool idea. :)

Yeah, I know that's true. I don't need a photocopy, but if you have details on the interview (date, interviewers name, where the interview was shown/published), I'll add it and give you credit.
|
date: the date would've been either the 12th or the 13th of May 2007, before the Mumbai gig of the ITLIS tour
interviewers name: it was more like a press conference, so doesnt really mention who asked the question.
where the interview was shown/published: it was published in June 2005, Volume 7 Issue 5 of RSJ Magazine.

I was thinking about cross-referencing the bootleg albums, but I can't keep up with them all. Maybe someday.
