Title: Rare Satch G3 Jam Song Found :d
SirChick - March 19, 2007 02:33 AM (GMT)
Dont worry, Axeshredder has posted it in bootleg also.
dreamflying - April 7, 2007 07:22 PM (GMT)
Speaking of rare...any idea where I can find an mp3 of a Satch song called "Dog With Crown & Earring"?!?
Thanks!
SirChick - April 7, 2007 09:42 PM (GMT)
Itunes if your willing to pay for it. Or if your not willing to pay for it.... then your looking at the wrong site my friend ;) Eric has strict rules on sharing music for free etc as we know it is illegal
tschommer - April 8, 2007 02:11 AM (GMT)
iTunes has just started selling DRM free music in a higher quality (256kbs) AAC format too. Probably your best bet.
dreamflying - April 8, 2007 05:59 PM (GMT)
"Dog With Crown & Earring" is not on iTunes.
Guess I'll have to try and find one of those ultra-expensive Japanese import versions of Is There Love In Space? even though I already bought the album once...
wasp2020 - April 9, 2007 01:07 AM (GMT)
You can listen to it on the Is There Love In Space? podcast on the official site.
(It's a very neat song, awesome chorus)

wasp did u post the songs of Joe Satriani's new DVD on youtube.. i mean cmon man why would you do that to joe !!! he deserves the money dont give the dvd out for free to people! :(
Mat JB - April 9, 2007 01:49 PM (GMT)
Rip the song from the podcast on Joe's site. Sure, it's probably illegal, but since there's no way you can actually buy the song (without ripping yourself off getting a Japanese import) there's nothing wrong with it.

i dont think your even allowed to suggest something like that on this forum given the rules..... this forum doesnt support in anyway illegal stuff specially against the person that this site is dedicated to.

I'm not giving the DVD out free to people. It's not the full DVD, not even close to it, and they can't download it. If you have a problem with it, then you can mark it as misuse and it'll all dissapear (don't forget to do that to any other live Satriani video there, of course). In fact, I am very much thinking of taking out the more irrelvant ones (leaving Cool, Ice, Always, Robots (on official site), summer, etc.). And why do you think I posted them on there? To get some sort of twisted personal gain out of it all? Do you know how useful it is to have superb live shows handy in a forum situation? Like for reccomendations? I can't count how many times a good Youtube link won a forum poster over with Satriani's brilliance. Like Vai's Tender Surrender video. Bam. All they can do is watch it and enjoy it (of course, people still always post his Until We Say Goodbye or Love Thing video). Heck, the Is There Love In Space? and Super Colossal podcasts are STILL up. It's been 5 years! (when someone asked the webmaster/Satriani, they basically said "Shhh! ;)").
In fact, I shouldn't have even mentioned it, right? Nor you the Youtube videos. In fact I think someone posted the Just Like Lightnin' video a while ago, whatever happened to that? This website links to Forever Joe, that has it's own collection of downloadable live footage and even album tracks. Hey, on this site: Covers, bootlegs, transcriptions, backing tracks. Obviously because those help us, the users, out more a great deal and of course incredibly handy to get better at guitar - but does that make it not illegal? Of course not. So don't be a hypocrite
If it's supposedly out of malice and of benign intent, then I don't see the evidence, other then it takes money away from Joe - which I've already shown is a hypocritical judgement. I'm not saying it's not illegal, or not wrong, nor should be allowed on this site (because I don't think it should, this site aims for a different purpose, nor would I support a mass distribution of free Satriani), but come on, SirChick. Don't act like that.
RaSpBeRrY JaM - April 9, 2007 07:15 PM (GMT)
I think it's cool joe has whole albums online, even if its streaming. So many artists these days get so malicious when they think people might be getting their songs for free, and I mean the mega rich ones, who have nothing to worry about money-wise.

Well i didnt view all your videos i just saw a fair few of the tracks and then thought u had them all up there BUT do remember they are all capable to download.. hell ive downloaded a few old videos of joe from the 80ies... but i duno i find it slightly sly to be putting them up on youtube when its only been out for like half a year... if was like in 5 years thats sligthly diffrent. if you search G3 on video google u can get all 3 FULL version's of them to download for free.. its rediculous how google video even though they check videos before it goes live that they let that stuff out specially when any old person has uploaded it obviously without the owner's permission.. bootlegs etc is sumin i would class slightly more ok on youtube etc
but thats just me.. just think of it as if you were the artist... no one needs to buy your DVD they get it for free from u lol
SirChick - April 10, 2007 10:43 PM (GMT)
just to add you put made of tears on there... that was one of his main songs ! one of the selling points which wasnt air'd for HD TV yet you still put it up
wasp2020 - April 11, 2007 04:37 AM (GMT)
I don't know what you're talking about, HDTV. I don't know anything about that. And many songs were his main songs. There ain't no Satch Boogie, Surfing, Ten Words, Circle, Mystical, Flying. I felt weird putting Summer because it was pointless because I wanted to put more obscure songs on it. I thought Tears was obscure.
Okay, fine, I'll leave it to a handful on less extraneous ones. It's stupid to have a lot, because that's not the point, the point is to show off his songwriting and playing abilities to otherwise unknowing masses. Heck just earlier today someone of UG asked for Blues-shred music. Just Like Lightnin' and A Cool new Way! Along with others (Up In Flames, etc.) hosted by other people obviously. Which ones do you promote I should take down? (And of course you'll advise the other users too, of course?)
And you still haven't addressed the hypocrisy. You can go to Forever Joe and download Slick! Starry Night! Mind Storm! Download, not just listen/view it. You can view One Robot's Dream on his site (obviously authorized, but that's not the point - people can still acquire it for themselves one way or the other). You can listen to (hint:ACQUIRE) the entirety of the Super Colossal and ITLIS records, plus the two bonus tracks for the former. And you're posting on this site right now that promotes cover tracks, backing tracks, bootlegs, even links to official videos! All definitely illegal, but non-malicious.
If there was a malicious intent, sure, of course it would be bad. There was no malicious intent with Made in Tears (and you should see the amount of gushing over Satriani are made in the comments page for that - wanting to see that is not malicious) or any other video.
If it's because people can download them, people can download anything. You could get the entirety of the Super Colossal and ISLIS records by just the podcasts if someone wanted to. or the One Robot's Dream preview, it's really, really not that difficult at all.
And if it's because it's driving sales away because of major selling points are being viewed for free, then posting the bonus tracks of Slick and The Eight Steps online for download sure would drive the costs down of the Anthology, right? And if I leave it down to a few, would it count as just an extension of the preview, or showing off of Satriani's talent, and not just the weird "Oh well, I saw the godly Summer Song intro, I don't need to buy the DVD now!"?
SirChick - April 13, 2007 11:23 PM (GMT)
What im on about with HD TV was that was air'd for free in a country i dont know where, these songs that where on TV free you could argue aint so bad being put on youtube but the songs that were not released except for the DVD itself which gave joe money, are the ones which i feel kinda show bad ethics behind putting them on youtube.
If joe wanted to take the risks of having them air'd like that he'd make a video pod cast im sure. I agree it's good publicise him but use the ones that were air'd on TV free. Then the rest can be goodies for when the people buy it cos u gave everyone the best songs! So if they bought the DVD they would find it a let down cos they'd already seen half of the good stuff, and may give joe a worse publicity rather than good :P Cos his bonus features were POOR cos he had let us see it all before he put it on the DVD from his website! Im sure most of you will agree with that one.
wasp2020 - April 14, 2007 05:59 AM (GMT)
"Best" is your opinion. Ethics are not decided by you. Heck, I think ORD is one of the best on the show, and he puts that as a preview. I sure as hell wanted to buy the DVD after watching that. And it's an obscure song.
And if people are let down...then who's fault is it, really? I know, it makes sense, releasing the 'biggest stuff' for public previewing, but at the same time is just doesn't.
And I told you, I went over this in the pevious spot, I had no idea about this HDTV broadcast details, and had no idea which ones were shown (nor had known only selected ones were in fact shown), so again, you can't pass judgement based on that. That's when I said which ones I should take down, some of extraneous ones possibly.
If I follow you, the real problem is that it misrepresents the DVD by portraying it as overly good. But now you can see that taking away the good material (Always, Summer, Tears) will only leave the mediocre or bad. And that's just as bad, possibly worse because they didn't even give Satriani a good chance. I'm not using any of that as a defense, or how 'there's no other choice but for me to release the best stuff!", but I just wanted to bring it up. Think of the San Francisco DVD, or even Vai's Alien Love Secret's DVD.
Axeshredder - April 14, 2007 12:53 PM (GMT)
just a quick comment and opinion from what ive read
Of course we want to protect Joe's Copyrights but this day and age, a you tube video is a poor quality preview of an actual DVD and i would personally want to buy the DVD for quality...internet clips just dont cut it and would just make me go buy the dvd if i enjoyed it. According to the new owners of youtube (google) , they are removing all copyrighted violations. Mind you that the copyright violation disclaimer does say any part or clip is a violation but as long as no one profits from it, i dont think anyone will pursue a law suit...im sure there working on a newer technology that will make it harder but till then, enjoy the free and support Joe
SirChick - April 14, 2007 02:08 PM (GMT)
I support joe but not the free stuff end of story. If you were a famous artist you would just as annoyed as annoyed and if you were loosing money out of it im sure to god you post would be diffrent. But they dont sue cos after metallica done it they loost a huge amount of fans and got a bad rep for it. But i respect metallica for having the balls to sue the people who downloaded their stuff.
And just to add not everyone listens to joe to enjoy his music... some do it to learn from him. And you dont need a DVD quality with DVD quality sound to learn from it, cos the videos on youtube do well enough to learn from.
But every one has a diffrent aspect on this and im sure the youtube will win. Unless people who thought it was wrong reported them all but i have better things to do with my time.
wasp2020 - April 14, 2007 03:10 PM (GMT)

But Satriani put his whole Super Colossal and ISTIS albums for free on his site! Including the bonus tracks! Who is he going to sue? I don't think he has that extreme of that idealology, whether he's worried about bad fan reaction or not, because of this. Hell "use ORD and put them on Youtube with a video on it" contest. WTF!
And stop acting like I'm doing this with an evil grin on my face!
And now there's a taking of a Learn angle? Ultimate-Guitar, Powertabs.com? How about the Technique forum?
[i]I support joe but not the free stuff end of story.
Covers, Bootlegs, Backing Tracks, all free, all illegal. All supported on this site.
Forever Joe.com - Starry Night, Slick, Mind Storm, Eight Steps
And I find it hard to believe that you have better things to do with your time then take a few minutes and solve the problem, but not to spend a week talking about it in this topic.
SirChick - April 14, 2007 08:05 PM (GMT)
Dude what ever man Covers, Bootlegs, Backing Tracks, are free.... so what "loss" does joe make if we send it around for him ? It was free in the first place.. so joe is not profiting..
On other hand joe is making money on the DVD or less than he could be.
Did u ever take ethics classes ? You would perhaps understand what i mean, plus if your into making music you should also know even more what i mean. As im trying to be a small artist in my local area selling my tracks on cd at shows at cheap prices id be annoyed if some one walked in and walked out with one without paying.. id chase him down the street and beat the crap into the person that done it... its an insult cos some songs are alot of work to make.
But im done on this argument cos like i said its an unbeatable argument until you get sued of course.
