Title: G3 Tower Theater 04/07/07

rwscull - April 9, 2007 08:29 PM (GMT)
Just saw G3 Satriani-Petrucci-Gilbert at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby, Pa on 04/07/07. What a great show! It was my first time seeing Gilbert and Petrucci. They both performed excellent sets. A quick word on Mike Portnoy. What a showman. I caught myself watching him almost as much as Petrucci. And Joe as always was right on with his set. The sound was great and the evening was spectacular. I took a ton of pictures. Some of them came out a bit blurry. You can't expect much from a point and shoot Sony Cybershot. I took most of the pics from the tenth row right side of the aisle. During Joe's set I was able to move up behind the third row. The rest of the pics are from there. The link to the pictures is listed below. There are also pics from Joe's Concert at the Tower on 04/19/06. Those pics were taken from the front row because I purchased a Premium Ticket Package to the show.G3 Satriani-Petrucci-Gilbert.

I caught them in Boston Friday the 6th. Awesome, awesome, sawesome show, and it was actually really refreshing to see G3 without Vai - Petrucci and Satriani have played together rather a lot now, and without Vai in the mix they were playing off each other a lot more than the previous G3, and you could tell they were just having a blast on stage together.

Also, Satriani's tone was the best I've heard it in years that night - I could see two Peavey cabs on stage, but I couldn't see a head. He hasn't switched back to MArshall 30ths, has he? Or has he just finally gotten the hang of dialing in his JSX's? They didn't sound nearly as grainy and processed as they have in the past...

My only regret was I was hoping Petrucci would have written some new material... As it was, his rhythm tone absolutely owned. I want a JP7 in the worst way. :D
