Title: Slow For You?

SirChick - September 1, 2007 12:11 AM (GMT)
Whats going on with this forum then lol ... Eric still not around been away for ages, i hope he's still paying for the server other wise this site is over :(

Any way encase you guys were getting "server not found" theres a solution.

Open up your Inbox page and save that exact page to your bookmarks. Then if you get the problem again open that page on your bookmarks.. it'll then work but itll say "you must be logged in" and you can log in then.

That was the only way i could get in just now, its a little trick i learned from making sites in the passed.

Hope this helps guys!

Has any one else just spooted "Mini profile" under my post ^ ? Ive not seen that before?

Martnt - September 1, 2007 12:20 PM (GMT)
I can't get on the Forum Portal, there's some weird error, 'Object not found, please contact the webmaster'.

Do you mean errors like these?

Axeshredder - September 1, 2007 01:58 PM (GMT)
ive made many attemps too...if this site is closed..i will create a new one but until then we will have to deal with these issues...no one can get access except eric...ive already looked into it

SirChick - September 1, 2007 08:24 PM (GMT)
i already created a new one as a back up don't worry :)

its been around for ages.... but i just cldnt be bothered to tell any one as i only need it for emergencies but this site is doing fine at the moment

Axeshredder - September 1, 2007 08:51 PM (GMT)
I never was worried...its you that started the worring post here.well i think you shouldnt let us stop you from promoting your "site".
But to take that kind of action before theres really an issue seems a little self serving dont ya think? It takes way more than being able to create a site to make it work like this one did...but please be my guest, cause it surely wouldnt be something i would look forward to doing when its already done right here <_<

SirChick - September 2, 2007 02:41 PM (GMT)
Since Eric's disappearance from being busy and this is about the 4th time its been down, i asked him a long time ago so that there would be a temporary continuation it would never replace it as I'd close it down once this was back up.

And no im not making a worry thread i told everyone how to get around the current issue that was the point of this thread..if you cant see that perhaps read properly. And tbh you sound more worried if your prepared to build a site from scratch.
I had one made before i had even found this site, so its not like im remotely worried just lucky enough to have a backup plan.

So i don't know where your hostility is coming from thinking im trying to take over.. or maybe its cos you want to be the one with the site so you have the control...mm..can't see why else you'd snap back..

Why give me that non sense of "your site wont ever be what this is" when you had just suggested to make a forum also... can someone say "hypocrite" ?

"But to take that kind of action" - You were just planning to do the same thing.. so what are you on about ?

Axeshredder - September 2, 2007 03:35 PM (GMT)
i have no intention or the time to run a satriani site...believe me it wouil only be to the people from this site that would want me or someone to...i have no time or really the drive...so you rant above is all in your head...but you have no right to take upon yourself transfering of the members here. If you had half a brain you would have discussed this with the moderators here first...its clear you have some dream of being an administrator like its something fun...you have no clue?...i only took moderatorship for this site from Erics request because there was no one here with the vast satch info i had...so get over yourself...i was serious when i said promote your own site....this one doesnt have to be the only one...duh...but now youve already lost the interest of more that one new member..WTG

and the truth is my heart is in a site thats more that just Satriani style but brings together many styles and opens the minds of other guitarists to Joes style and alot others...and i did create it and its all i have time for thebluesjamrailway.com

....so please create a satriani site that i dont have to do anything but enjoy it, your misconceptions of moderators and administrating will be enlightened and you can spend hour after hour dealing with childish posts with long explantions

SirChick - September 2, 2007 04:25 PM (GMT)
you still aint managed to read what i put. its solely there for temporary means.... if this site compelte messed up least we have a secondary backup until its back. it is in no way means to take over this site.. if you really canot understand that thens something wrong with... which im beginning to think there is anyway....

firstly you suggest to make a site and when some one else says they have a forum already which can be used for temporary reasons when this place is down you suddenly jump at them with pathetic and petty attacks saying my site will never beat this... so you already assume its made solely for competition with this site "wrong".. the initial forum was set for guitar music in general but seeing as its not being used it was a pretty handy thing to have hense why i said i already have a forum.....

although i may have worded it to an extent that it sounded like i made it ready for this place goes wrong.. that wasn't the initial reason my forum was made.

Perhaps if i had just copied and pasted what you said but changed it :

i have a spare forum which is unused to "save you the effort axeshredder", but until then we will have to deal with these issues...no one can get access except Eric...ive already looked into it

Shame you couldn't really see the positive side of my kind offer ... *sigh*

I know perfectly well what its like to moderate forums not this place how ever but either way its all the same, and being a staff member its a royal pain in the ass.... that is why i respect you for doing the work here, though i wouldn't say no to giving you guys some help to spread the work load obviously giving i have alot of free time.

Axeshredder - September 2, 2007 04:59 PM (GMT)
i apologise for any misunderstanding... im just trying to defend what Eric cant...i dont want to offend you and the efforts you make to secure to great community we have here....but so you know and understand my feelings, you should create a backup or another forum because i too am unsure of the future of this site and to those who look forward to visiting here may too. It only takes 10 minutes to create a replacement site if this did go down that why i felt no need to do one now before theres any serious issues and didnt want people to think...well what you though that i am some kind of authority monger (not)....thanks

SirChick - September 2, 2007 05:16 PM (GMT)
thats ok. Im sorry also.
but i must make clear the site was made before i had known this forum existed but because i couldn't be bothered mostly to get it going i have left it to collect dust, but it looks like it could come in handy.

Plus we can just set up a section on your bluesjamrailway for it seeing as its an active forum. This forum will never die in spirit specially now we know we have backup plans.

Ill apologize also for just venting off with anger, I guess it was not needed on my part.

Alright my turn to have a hissy fit here...

This forum (and credit to you guys) IS the 'official' satriani forum on the web with the largest contingency of members. So why doesn't the official Joe Satriani site incorporate this forum into its domain/site or whatever you call it? I mean, just look at the vai website, he has his own 'official' forum that is maintained very well and is very active with a huge list of members. Some of the crazy vai worshippers will be laughing at the fact that Joe Satriani doesn't even have an official forum and this one might be going down in the near future.

Doesn't make sense to me. (Or am I completely missing the plot and there is a forum on the satch homepage?)

SirChick - September 2, 2007 11:26 PM (GMT)
LoL Joe has his own kinda kinda forum which joe interacts with.. .i agree this is far more manageable.. but there webmaster is by no means good at his job to be honest lol....

they really need a webmaster capable of coding decent forums and a slightly more modern website .. he probably hasn't heard of CSS hense the lack of fancy graphics in comparison to this site.

Even if the thought was up by them.. Eric is the one who chooses and he has disappeared from being too busy so it would be a while till he is back.

andy82 - September 3, 2007 02:39 AM (GMT)
Where has this Eric fella gone anyway?

Axeshredder said no one can get access except eric - so if eric is leaving for a while why doesn't he put someone else in charge 'temporarily' so the site is maintained well...

PhryDom - September 3, 2007 08:42 AM (GMT)
regarding Eric, "yours is not to reason why"

quit whining, people! talk about guitars and joe and music!

NOBODY (maybe not even eric) can make a "backup" of this site! sure you can make a similar site, maybe even one with better functionality, whatever, BUT you you can't get all the member names & passwords & emails & previous posts without ultra hyper mega ninja mod access... and even then i'm pretty sure that invision (whatever you might think of them) DISable the ability to export such data. which means there's only one satrianiforum, and this is it!

oh, and for the record i have had no connection problems with this place for at least six months and so the "site being down" sounds to me like "my connection to the site is down" (note i didn't say "my connection is down")... talk to your ISP, people!

SirChick - September 3, 2007 10:24 PM (GMT)
cant be i asked some one in USA and they are having the issue and some one in south America too so it cant be ISP related... could be Invision doing something on certain IP ranges .. sounds more feasible...
