Title: Need Help On My Jsx Combo - Fx Loop

rygelxvi - September 4, 2007 01:44 PM (GMT)
Hi, last week received my combo. Yesterday got my Keeley AD9 Analog Delay, but now comes the problem :

I think there's something wrong with the effects loop on the amp: the pedal sounds different or odd throught the loop, and more normal when I plug it straight into the amp.
Plugged into FX loop, the features don't work like they should : I get reverb sound, but with no slapback sound. When I try to get more delay, it starts to sound aweful...
So I end up using the master reverb knob to get the same effect instead of a Delay Pedal in the FX.

Also, I hear weird silent cracking noises the first 30 seconds the JSX is powered on. After that, that problem goes away.

PLease.... help :(

play with the loop levels (return & send)and check your chords..let me know how it goes

Thanks Axe for your reply.

n00b question coming up, the chords...

From 'in' on the pedal => send on the FX
From 'out' on the pedal =>return on the FX

I have tried a lot of things but this is the only way it kinda works :S

It should be I think :

return FX => in pedal
send FX => out pedal

When I try this, the pedal cannot be heard. The sound doesn't change...

The loop levels are :send at 8, return at 2 .

send FX => in pedal
return FX => out pedal

turn the return up - that might work

Yea Mindstorm... correct ;)

In the meantime this issue is solved. The thing is/was that the Keeley AD9 delay is not 100% compatible with the wiring on the JSX FX loop, which was designed for another type of delay pedals.

The reverb sound is there on the FX, and a touch of slapback. Not exactly what I was looking for, but close. I just add some master Reverb to it and i'm happy.

I think this is useful info for all those JSX owners out there..

Thanks for all your replies and cheers!

According to the manual, you either have to have the return at full blast or the send at full blast and the other gain (whether the send or return) has to be set at a low level. Not to sound like a smart cookie or not but, are you toggling the fx loop on with the footswitch?

Jimmy :)

something i've noticed also, is that when you hook up an effect board through the FX loop, and then I change the amp's channels, it doesn't sound the same.

I'm using a digitech gnx 2, and maybe it's isn't a true bypass etc... however it is a bit weird, I'm thinking if I get guitar rig 2, or boss gt-pro it should be all good... I hope :P

btw, just add clarity, i put the gnx on direct, I remove all the model amps, and I make sure all the EQ is at 0 [range is -12 to +12]
