I want to learn from someone that's creditable. I don't just want to learn from someone who plays metallica songs all day you know? If I want to learn from someone who knows everything about theory and what not...ideally i want to learn from satch =) so If I did find someone, what should I ask them or what should I do to make sure I'm learning everything the right way?
just tell them what YOU want to learn and they will know this.. if it doesn't work out then you just leave.
Plus make sure u find teachers capable of teaching a broad spectrum of music genre's even if you don't learn all of them.. at least it wont be so "one sided" in terms of what your learning (metallica songs), but even the greats like Joe started learning the heavy stuff like black sabbath...
But the really good teachers is the one in your head. Self learning makes you far more unique than person to person in my opinion. But person to person is also important so you don't end up learning everything wrong.
