Title: About Love Thing

So, I'm planning to perform this song at my schools talentshow in December. I know the bulk of the song, I just gotta get two of the leads to the right speed and such, but I'm not sure how to use the wah on the song. So I was wondering if you guys could give me some advice on it, since...

Well, I could post the backstory and the reason to why I'm doing it if someone would like me to. ^^

It'd be me, my guitar, a borrowed amplifier, my Crybaby , a delaypedal and a GuitarPro backingtrack onstage btw. ^^

dont use the wah at all. just use an auto wah so it does it for u but turn it off on the main solo where the 17th fret bend on thin e comes in thats how joe does it also. on the album song anyway not sure live.

itll mean u get more concentration on guitar than the foot work n will help nail it better

Really depends how much you want to sound like the original tone - if you don't care then I agree with SirChick, just use autowah - much easier to play.

I perosnally think you should try using the crybaby if you can, I've played this song with an autowah and it just hasn't got the depth, even with an expression pedal the wah fluctuations still sounds ver weak to me.

well it takes some practice but try to use the wah more like an exprssion pedal and accent the phrases like you saying them with the wah....nice and slow like a slow phase shifter....find the sweet change spot and ride around that staying away from the high highs and low lows..unles you have a wah you can regulate (ex. 535q)..gl

Problem is that I love the sound Joe gets, that's why I'm asking. ^^ I've tried using it to accent notes but I guess I'm going too far down because it sounds just a tad off to me.. :P

@Axeshredder: I'll try that for sure, staying somewhere in the middle or so. ^^ Thanks to all of you. :)

How experienced are you at using a pedal and playing guitar at same time ? If your quite used to it then the latter is better choice. I used to play surfing with the alien with the wah but i was concentrating on keeping my playing tight that my foot was wah'n in wrong times and it infact made me sound worse lol So i took off the wah and it actually gives my cover a different twist to most normal covers where everyone is trying to be like joe...

if you rid the wah itll be like more "you" which is kinda important in the long run gotta find your own sound eventually. Not using the wah is all personal choice it's not wrong or right its just reflecting your approach of music.
