Ok,
Just saw this on a different forum and I think its quite good for keeping your mind fresh with naming chords and the the more you do it the faster you get at doing it until it becomes second nature...
The rules:
There are many chords with more than one possible name, as long as you give at least one correct names then that is fine.
To keep it clean you can only post a chord formula if you have got the chord correct. If two of you did then the first one that posted it gets the right to post a chord for us to guess.
For additional bonus points if you can name any scale(mode) that fits with that scale then you earn some kudos for sure.
Not only will this help you do this fresh in your mind but we will develop a nice referral library of chords/scales relations :)
So I'll start us off:
Name this chord:
1-3-5-7
F-D-G-A?
Hmm...
D-F-G-A
Dmadd11?
Fitting scale could be D Dorian.
Im afraid not.. theres no 11th in the formula of 1-3-5-7
I don't think it would work with Dorian as the Dorian scale i beleive has a flat 3rd. Try again :)
