The tenative Title of Joes New Album....only 10 songs. No non stop shredding. All Killer, No Filler..........Possible Piano Ballad.......Beck has increasingly influenced Joe...Title track solo plays in 4 different keys.....

Awesome - I love Beck (esp. the Gameboy Variations EP) - where'd you get the info from?

Jonas - December 12, 2007 07:00 PM (GMT)
Sounds just like how I wanted it to be. Great. Nice choice on the title, also.

GuitarDojo - December 12, 2007 07:27 PM (GMT)
Check the latest Guitar World issue for more info.

damn, I'm even more excited then after I read about the 15 minute jam...

tschommer - December 12, 2007 11:10 PM (GMT)
Awesome!! Very cool sounding title, I'm looking forward to getting the new issue of GW.

odd trio - December 13, 2007 01:14 AM (GMT)
satchinfukenpuss or whatever had no chance of title, i just knew it!

Rocklegend - December 13, 2007 11:41 AM (GMT)
Not sure I like the title....This one is gonna have to grow on me unlike The Extremist or Crystal Planet...Awesome Album titles

motorcycle_driver - December 13, 2007 06:09 PM (GMT)
is this for real?

Spider - December 13, 2007 08:42 PM (GMT)
I think Mysterion it's a not bad title. Too bad it'll have only 10 songs but
piano ballad would be nice.

Axeshredder - December 13, 2007 10:16 PM (GMT)
i think its a great name equal to the Extremist

punchingboy - December 14, 2007 12:12 AM (GMT)
Hey thanks for the info. Weird title. Reminds me of the Spider-Man cartoon and the character - Mysterio.

tschommer - December 14, 2007 12:58 AM (GMT)

Yes, it's in the new Guitar World.

I don't see a connection there...
Mysterion makes me think:

Eastern mysterious (morrocan sunset) stuff.

Extremist makes me think of fast electric rock stuff (Which it is)

Any graphic image out or anything?
I just don't know if Mysterion has a great sound to it.. but I said that about Super Colossal.
It's only when I here the title track do i genuinely believe that the song sums up the whole album thus being the correct choice.

JOE has NEVER put a foot wrong when it comes to song names and album names yet ..... so I ain't doubting him... yet. ;)

SirChick - December 14, 2007 01:42 AM (GMT)
I wonder... ?

Satriani does like this weird out of the box stuff and his mind is crazy.. perhaps he's taken the same approach of using his human mind? =/

I do. I think Joe does too. Alot of his song names and album names are based on what ever they was suppose to be about. Or what they represented as part of his life. (like Ceremony)

Axeshredder - December 14, 2007 07:22 PM (GMT)
well maybe...i find mostly he really asks others to help name them...like this album.. to me its about the music....you can call it anything you want but it will never come close to desctibing the song....just one interpretator of it...Joes last interview explained...after he records it...its up to the listener to what it means...the name is just neccessary and part of the rules in writing songs

drop2on - December 14, 2007 08:28 PM (GMT)
I completely agree. With you Axe. Music and sounds makes me feel and think A LOT more than lyrics and words do. And i couldn't imagine trying to explain what those feelings or thoughts are. Not that i don't enjoy some lyrics out there, i just personally am more touched by the music. Which is what i like about what joe said, it's up to the listener. When i write a song or make up something it always fits how i feel completely, but i would never ever expect anyone else to feel the same way. If they do, great, but i want them to take it in in their own way. But hey, that's just me. Everyone has their right.

True... although I find alot of Joe's song names match precisely how I visualize it.

Do you have that interview.. would like to check it out if you get a link.

odd trio - December 15, 2007 01:23 AM (GMT)
10 songs (10 words?? :o ) doesent really mean anything in terms of the music. zeppelin albums have sometimes only 8 songs , zep 4 houses of the holy or few like presence.

as joe explained in the GW interview....more than Ten Songs is Really too much and from his comments it sounds like many songs over the years were "Fillers" for albums.....i think Joes quickies are great as in the Nascar Tracks but he feels now more than Ten is...."Showing Off"????...or "Slopping Together"???...or something like that...lol

This is not true Axe.The reason why itīs 10 songs is because Sony the Label demand it,Joe mentioned something about this a few years ago during the ITLIS or SBM sessions....because Sony wants their Artists to have Albums to be around the hour mark....I know this as a friend of mine is signed by the same Label as Joe...All Sonyīs BMG artists are not permited to release material on CD that is Longer than 60mins...
Also I dont believe Joe wouldnīt release something if he didnīt believe in the music and just thought of them as fillers, for example Tumble and Dog with the earrings didnīt make the ITLIS due to Sony putting a cap on mins per CD....

Also I think the Album title sounds like a character in a Transformers cartoon or movie  :clap2:  :hyper:

Oh Yeah?!!!!!!!!!!
....Heres Joe's quote....
"Most Cd's, mine included, have too much information. Theres no reason for long sprawling records-theyre boring. So this babys going to be 10 tracks, All Killer, No Filler"

as for the history of record companies and radio stations restricting the time...well let history repeat cause Jim Morrison didnt like that idea and rebelled...check the time on doors albums and youll see what im talkin about..but the companies started remixing and reducing the times ..then the artist started making "Radio Edits" (even Joe was forced to do a Radio Edit..total destruction of an awesome tune[borg sex])....years of destroying what the artist was creating.....No limits and no restictions is what music is about...do we need to live the 60',70's again..LMAO...all searches for time restictions by sony or anyone doesnt come up...i think your friend..lol...is pulling your leg

Ah OK I stand corrected on the all killer no filler,Quote....didnīt see that one......

Nah my friend aint pulling my leg....in fact Joe himself has said that the record company wonīt release any albums above the 60min mark.....blame the iTunes mentallity.....Albums donīt sell anymore but single tracks do..................
My problem with that quote above is that itīs sounds like a Record Company PR because if Joeīs new album is around 60mins then imo what Joe has said is complete BS....because his new album will be around 40mins long....10 tracks by 4mins.....thatīs not long enough imo...... :(

Epic records are a division of Sony BMG.....most indie Labels are owned by the big record companies.....

Not sure why Sony donīt allow albums to fill out a CD....74mins.....Sony is all about singles....Albums are dead....people ainīt buying them.Music has gone back to the 50īs where singles where the norm and not albums....singles is where Sony and the other record companies make their money ,why do you think X Factor and Pop Idol have been so popular...because Sony is making a fortune from Single sales from this cheap form of marketing and a certain Mr.Cowell works for Sony BMG.....

quick question without high jacking the thread, when is the last time you heard a killer double cd?

SirChick - December 17, 2007 02:49 PM (GMT)
Simon Cowell works for his own label not sony :S I would be surprised if Simon Cowell listened to any one other than himself.

Killer double CD:

Time Machine is 2.9 hours long thus even if twas 50/50 for time on both CD's they would be 1 hour 45 each. And its a killer double CD.

Im surprised Joe hasn't done his own thing if theres restrictions i would get all artists against sony if I could.

2005 - Foo Fighters - In Your Honour.

Anyway, remember, one of the songs is 15 minutes long, so even if all the other songs are a mere 4 mins long the album will come to a respectable 49 minutes.

skykiller - December 17, 2007 06:17 PM (GMT)
satriani live was a double cd..
