Paul Gilbert new is titled Silence Followed By A Deafening Roar . I haven't listened to it yet but it's instrumental like his Get Out Of My Yard album.
Prestige - February 1, 2008 09:51 PM (GMT)

Me too, I have not been a big fan of much of their stuff lately, but Rick Ruben seems to have the magic touch. The combo makes me very curious.

...also, for some reason I'm looking forward to Chinese Democracy, the new G'N'R CD, if it ever gets released. Though I loved Appetite for Destruction, I think they are a vastly overrated band. Chinese Democracy has been in the making for so long, and so much money and hype have gone into it. I now think of it almost like driving by a car accident, even if you don't want to look, you just have to.

i agree and have no interest in what they release....slash never really impressed me either...i dont get it
wasp2020 - February 9, 2008 10:12 AM (GMT)
Although I love some of their songs, I never understood the acclaim for Slash, and still don't. He sounds just compleetly and utterly generic. Soul? Creativity? Power? I honestly don't hear any of it, and I have honestly tried. He's not bad, not by a long shot, he's just not anything special.
I mean, it's great that you can get a well arranged rock song and have a cool guitar solo in it, but that's really about it.
FenixBG - February 9, 2008 10:54 AM (GMT)
I do not want to push this into ___ vs ___ thread more, but I also have something to say.
I get the feeling that you look at him more as a guitarist than as a musician. I have to admit that I like him and I believe that when it comes to listening to someone's music it is... all about the music.
What I like about him is exactly the simplicity. :)
I mean, I see him as the 'guitarist version' of the way Satch describes Bob Marley. He does use the minor blues pentatonic for like 20 years and yet I enjoy the way he does it and the feel he brings it and it is so simplistic, yet really powerfull IMHO.
For me, to use five tones for twenty years and to come up with an awesome solo (e.g. Fall to Pieces - again imo, as the whole post of mine :P) which sounds different and unique, yet it can be recognized that that *is* you - for me that is creative as hell!
But don't get me wrong, not in the way Satriani is creative, or by just bringing new gear (you play the same stuff which just sounds different because e.g. of several effects). Just a different 'creativeness'.
In general what I want to say is that music is what matters to me - that is, if I like a song I do not care whether it is made of two standart chord progressions and a modulation in the end. => I like his music, so I like him as a guitarist - he does not have to be 'extremly new and radical or innovative to impress me.
Nothing of that is personal to you guys, although I am referring to your two posts :)
just my way of how I see things :P

Rubin is Producing the new ZZ Top CD? That could potentially be one of the coolest things ever!! I don't like any of the recent Metallica CDs, but I'm looking forward to their upcoming Rubin produced CD.
beedoo - March 28, 2008 03:32 AM (GMT)
Yes ! Funny hé ?
He's not an intensive producer, that's why he produces so many artists...
Personnaly, I love St Anger ! Maybe because I'm more a blues guy...
But lookin forward to hear the new one as well.

odd trio - April 18, 2008 10:30 PM (GMT)
clips available link on rb araki , the ''come closer '' clip is one to check first ,it has more information than some of the otheres. its still hard to tell from these , just like satchifunk. i like the lead guitar tone, thin delicate slinky for that euro rock sound
