Title: Keeley Modded Ds-1

SatchScream - February 7, 2008 03:52 PM (GMT)
I've been thinking about getting one of these and running it through the JSX's clean channel. Does anyone know anything about them, or have any experience with them? I don't wanna spend $75 to get one modded, then realize that I don't like it.

Thanks. :)

I've been using the Keeley DS-1 for quite a while now. I find it a lot better than the stock DS-1. The first thing to notice is that it is less noisy.

Both modes have their uses and compared to a stock pedal, the differences are subtle but it's there. The sound is more articulate overall. The Seeying Eye Mod gives you more gain as opposed to the Ultra Mod which gives you more low-end and a fatter sound. Unless your ear is well trained don't expect a ZOMGG MIRACLE !!!! kind of difference. But overall the difference is noticeable and much appreciated.

At first I didn't notice any difference when switching between both modes and even comparing to a stock but as I listened the differences became quite clear.

do some recordings and save the setting with the standard ds1, then once modded do the same settings and let us hear it man...lol...good luck

I have one with both the All Seeing Eye mod and a switch to change it to Ultra mod. My fave is the ASE option, which really does fatten up and warm up the tone. I mainly use the pedal as a booster for Metal Zone & SD1 Overdirive pedals.
