Title: Big Favour! (those Of You Who Will Meet Satch)

Satch-mo - March 17, 2008 03:23 AM (GMT)
I was wondering if any of you who are planning on meeting Satch on his GC and/or European tour could ask a very quick question...I think it would help those chasing his tones possibly...I just want to know what setting he sets his effects loop at. I have an effects loop on my amp, but with the delay pedal settings Axe has shown in pics, there is just too much delay going on, kind of muddying up the tone...I do plan on getting the JSX combo relatively soon, so it'd be interesting to know for sure...Maybe we'll get to see some pics of his amp settings as well...Wishful thinking, I know, I know!

kinda assuming that anyone can even get near his amplifier but to be thrown out because your curious???...try your own settings man...coping satch settings wont make you sound anything like him  the tone your seeking is in your hands not in the gear

Easy, big boy! Jeez.... I wasn't forcing anyone's hand...I didn't know it was a crime to be curious... Its ironic that you say "the tone is in your hands, not in the gear", yet you own several Satriani signature guitars, the JSX, and several of his pedals, and have done multiple covers of his songs with an eerily similar tone..You've also paid hundreds to meet the man multiple times...You even wear the glasses in your videos like Satch....and...you're the moderator of a Satriani site to boot! So if you are attempting to call me out as a fanboy, ...well...I'm afraid that's just the cat calling the kettle black, my friend! .. No offense, but I can get Satch tones with my gear no problem, and even without, I can can emulate Satch and other artists very closely with my technique and touch. I just thought it would be interesting to know, that's all. There's no need to be so abrasive over a simple question...

im sorry if i offended you, but trying to offend me isnt the way. Every week theres someone new asking me my setting or Joes settings...i never looked at his and there are so many factors, coping a setting isnt going to do you any good...i was only trying to help you...knobs are for adjusting an amp from what your hearing!!!!!!!
i wont explain how even with the cheapest gear that i once had here, i still gota good tone because ive always used my ear. I own js gear for 1 reason...quality and tone...my tone,,,.. not Joes...you guys can cal it anything you want....ive worn glasses playing before Joe did buddy..i only have one eye..lmao ;)

Hey man, didn't mean to rattle your cage...I just sensed a bit of harshness in the the tone of the Axemeister...Thing is, I hear that phrase all the time "The tone is in your hands etc etc...", but it doesn't necessarily apply to everyone. I'm not remotely trying to brag, but I'm one of those guitarists who can pick up on and emulate the nuances of another player, simply because 1. I have talent, and was a natural on the instrument from day 1, and 2. I've been playing for over 16 years now, and it is a hobby of mine to emulate others tones using both my technique, and my touch (vibrato, picking dynamics etc etc...), just for fun in the comfort of my home. I don't think there is anything wrong with that. When I do play covers, I enjoy getting the same tones as my guitar heroes...OCCASIONALLY...It's a hell of a lot of fun!! When playing out, whether its a gig or just jamming with buddies, its a whole different ballgame, and I try and get as far away from guitar hero tone emulation as possible, given that I do utilize a blend of techniques learned from those emulations, as well as others I've either discovered on my own, or just picked up through the years from various sources...can we all call you One Eyed Willy from now on? Peace, bro

"the evolution of the guitar relys on all of us to copy and emulate tone and techniques. Theres no such thing as original...its all derived from a mix of influences. "
And im only kidding about the eye..lmao. And i look forward to hearing something from you in our cover/original(lol) section...as in all forums...if you give a little, youll get alot. Good night
