Title: PC and a POD...sorted!
Description: Ideal set up

rlacombe - July 9, 2005 03:49 PM (GMT)
I use a desktop PC (1g of memory, 3.2ghz Pentium IV, Soundblaster Live soundcard)...along with Cubase SX and Propellorheads Reason 3.0 for the MIDI work (awesome package!).

I have used this recoridng from a mini board which my guitar and FX were plugged into.

But the biggest change I found in my set up for PC home recording was a PODxt from Line 6.
Fantastic little AMP / FX / CAB simulator.

Will never match the sound of my Marshall, but for rhythm parts...you can just plug it straight in and record via USB!!!!

Awesome piece of kit.

I think line6 has done a job of which roland/boss and digitech have been dreaming about... the company is so pioneering in such a short span of time! Not only with the pods, guitarports, vettas, but also their variaxes. I'm curious what the future will bring us :P

And that pod really seems like it's become an industry standard. I saw that even the keyboard player of The Who used one during live8

Im really interested to hear people reactions to the PODxt as it does seem to be becoming the choice for this sort of equiptment. I know things like this will never match gettin your hands on the real equiptment but Ive found this sort of equiptment to be really below standard I can never get any good tones out of them. Ive heard many good reviews of Line6 though... I did try thier GuitarPort before I switched to Mac and I sold it on pretty fast I was dissapointed in it.

YEAH BUDDY......
The Line6 products are awsome. And i know there is no substitute for a live sound but you cant get much closer than with the simulation the Guitar Port and POD have to offer a guitarist that needs a compact setting at home for ideas/recordings/practice.......etc

I also prefer to use the Cool Edit Pro for recording into .....
The Line6 products act like a seperate input source that is easily configured in most Recording software.

Great Stuff. B)

I just got a Line 6 Pod Pro XT (model packs included) today. I am looking for some recording software.

Is cool edit pro by Adobe? Is is pretty easy to use? I was looking at getting a Digi 002 R with Pro Tools, Nuendo and Reason. (I have played with Reason 2.5 before)

I prefer the older version of Cool Edit Pro. Too much eye candy and other stuff i am not using with Adobe's version called Audition. They both work well for multiple track recordings with full featured mixdowns.
I personally have not tried Reason or most other progs like it. Nuendo looks promising.
Good Luck.

Podxt is great for USB recording... when it works, I've got one and love it but it didn't work with my Motherboards USB I had to fix it by trying a couple of pci USB cards. Was a complete pain, line 6 weren't much help either.

I like they way I've got it set up now but given that I only use it for practise and recording I'd love to swap it for the new toneport!
