Cool! I don't think I have ever seen that video before. I have heard Joe taly about his Ibanez Telecaster in several interviews though. Very cool guitar.

mouhsen - May 3, 2008 03:51 PM (GMT)
it's a very cool song, and I never understand why he needed a tele instead of JS.

However it is one of my most favorite songs for Joe.
thought I could never find the original by billie holiday.

Well i can hear a big difference in tone from the tone... are you sure its an Ibanez ? Thought it was a fender to be honest ..

rygelxvi - May 3, 2008 04:30 PM (GMT)
It's an Ibanez. It's one of the first guitars Joe got from them. From that guitar the actual JS developped. (if my memory serves me right)

mouhsen - May 3, 2008 05:41 PM (GMT)
hold on a sec, from the ibanez radius he got the JS. the thing is, all alone is very straty for lack of a better word. Even when you try to play it, you need to put it in single coil, and it's possible the JS didn't have that yet.

anyways.... kick ass song.

never ever seen this vid before, thanks alot for posting!

never been a great fan of teles myself, ive had bad experiences with them
the ones that i have played have had the most horrid necks EVER and the pickups are either overly trebly or overly bassy,

i may have just been unlucky but i find it surprising that joe uses one.

stewmunny - May 3, 2008 09:02 PM (GMT)
Great video thanks for posting Sirchick!!

Wow, I didn't even know there was such a video or guitar. That was the first song I learned to play.

Don't forget joe's guitar has been designed for him, so his is probably perfect!

Discovered this some time ago by an accident, cool to see him playing on Telecaster.

SirChick - May 4, 2008 03:56 PM (GMT)
Any one know of a live performance of this song ? Possibly with this guitar also?

beedoo - May 5, 2008 01:22 AM (GMT)
Wonderful song, one of the first I learned to play from Joe's... Two Days ago, I just found back a tape I recorded when I was fourteen with All Alone, Flyin and Cryin' on it (and also ZZ Top's Tell It). I thought I lost it !
Never knew there was a video for this one.

I think this guitar is described in the Time Machine booklet. It is a Tele proto built by Ibanez for Joe. If my memory works well he also used it on TMTH.

I think joe uses Teles more than we expect... (Moroccan Sunset ? Come On Baby ?)

I know he also used it on a few tracks on ITLS. He talked about it in a Guitar Player interview, he refers to the guitar as his 'Ibanez Tele Style'.

I love Telecasters, all guitar players should own one strung up with 11s!

Yep, right on ! Same thing for Gretsches !

mouhsen - May 5, 2008 02:49 AM (GMT)
ouch, 11s :P

satch uses a lot of guitars on his records, however, he is a great endorsee, and ibanez pretty much caters to what he wants, and their top artists.

have you guys for example seen the stuff that paul gilbert has of late :)

I use 16's in general LOL

Been increasing the thickness of time string by string over last 3 years, purely to get finger strength up quicker. You should see my fingers :P they bleed often

Avenyr - May 5, 2008 07:29 PM (GMT)
The biggest gauge I've ever seen is 0.13-0.56 for an electric guitar... so either you're using extra extra mega light bass strings or custom made strings just for you I have no clue what brand you're buying :P

you should link me to it I'm curious

s13satch - May 5, 2008 11:50 PM (GMT)
Besides this video, the one for SC, and all the ones on The Satch Tapes, are there any other Joe music videos out there?

I have seen 14 gauge flatwound jazz strings, but thats as high as I have ever seen.

Its not difficult to get a gauge 16 for thin e . Just buy a gauge 16 string which is normally like the G or B or D string depending on what gauge set you buy and just don't put them where their suppose to go :P , but put in on the e position instead lol
I don't buy a gauge 16 set, i ain't seen such a thing I just got the strings individually.

The big E string I have no idea what gauge that is lol I just get the higher gauge every time I aint re-strung my guitar for some time now.

I think my E and A string are the same gauge, then the D string is an A string and follow suit all the way down.

I use ernie ball as that is what my local shop only has.

rygelxvi - May 6, 2008 02:41 PM (GMT)
Err... is that good for a guitar?

Avenyr - May 6, 2008 02:58 PM (GMT)
Ohhh sooo I was close they're not custom made for you they are custom assembled BY you ehhehe

Providing that you know how to adjust the bridge to counter act the tightness of the strings, this will stop the neck from bending due to the tension.

What i did was remove one spring which holds the bridge at the back of the guitar this allowed the tightness to not be so bad whilst keeping the action of the strings play-able.

My bridge used to be only a single movement, downwards but now as i have less springs, the bridge acts almost like a floating trem even though it isn't :P

LOL yes Avenyr, I am very experimental with my cheap guitar :P

Thank for the vid. I didn't even know it was out there.
