Title: So Whats The Highlight Of Professor Satchafunkilus

QuickerThanSatch - May 6, 2008 01:05 AM (GMT)
So is there anything jaw dropping on the new album?

what would you rate best as far as the best song, and best solo within a song?

SirChick - May 6, 2008 01:17 AM (GMT)
I like revelation and come on baby the best, and they are next to each on the album which just makes it even better... the rest of the album... none of them really shine to me.

SatchScream - May 6, 2008 01:42 AM (GMT)
I'd have to say Musterion is by far the best track, along with revelation. Even Ghosts was pretty damn good, the rest...eh.

EDIT: I knew I was forgetting one, Andalusia is one of my favorites.

tschommer - May 6, 2008 02:25 AM (GMT)
I have to admit that this may be be first time that I have not immediately connected with a Joe CD, I'm hoping that it will grow on me over time though.

Hmm... Andulasia was pretty good, something different at least, aside from the too-long ending. Diddle-Y-A-Doo-Dat is good, Musterion is probably my favourite. I did enjoy Ghosts more than most of the rest of the album too. This is a huge step down from Super Colossal though; probably my favourite Joe album. I think it's partly the 10 song format that puts me off; it feels like the album is too short.

the last two songs are it. more guitar or your money back,as advertised,. shreddedwheat at bottom of the box after you finish the ''flakes'' like do dat and musterious crunchies!

wasp2020 - May 6, 2008 09:39 PM (GMT)
Musterion and Revolution really do it for me. Reeeal tasty stuff.

Andalusia and Asik Veysel take a while to get used to and I'm still in the process, but I definitely like them. Diddle-Y-A-Doo-Dat is real groovy with a neat melody, and Out of the Sunrise and Come on Baby are just so melodic and soothing. Overdriver is really interesting, and I Just Wanna Rock is not that good, but pretty decent.

The only track I simply don't really like is Satchafunkilus itself.

My favs are

Overdriver: such a great intro riff, and would be very funny to play it live
it has a lot of power!
Come On Baby! i just fell in love with the last one, almost brought me a tear from my eyes

then the one taht i like a lot are

Musterion: the chord progression is very atractive!
OUt of the Sunrise has a really good quite vibe.
Asik Veysel: really love te tappin though is similar tu pIron Maiden's Paschendale

adn for "Professor Satchfunkilus": mmmeeeh
It could turned into a great tune, i love the Funk Rythms, but here, the main theme is very phony... the last part of the song is interesting, is what y pay more atention. The last aprt, that weird sacle run he does is very cool

Nothing, though i did get those cold shivers u get sometimes, from Andalusia this morning

satriani guy - May 10, 2008 07:18 PM (GMT)
Mines got to be Come on baby and Andalusia,

though i must say that i am a liiitle dissapointed with this new album, yes they are all great songs but im just not quite as much into what satch has produced with the last album(s) as i was when i first heard things like F-I-A-B-D and C-P

just my opinion, but im sure that they will grow on me.

Well... I caught Andalusia after a 1 nighter from this chick a few years ago and a shot of penicillin from my doc cleared it right up.

they're all so damn good....exceppt for one..

professor satchafunkilus....it's too much hill groove....hill groove is cool althought

FenixBG - May 12, 2008 10:18 AM (GMT)
^Yeah, you notice that too? It is soooo close. I love Hill Groove :)

pix_xav - May 12, 2008 04:43 PM (GMT)
no highlight for me... this morning i put this cd again in my cd player (after 2 weeks without listning to it, but listening to ITLIS or SC instead), and i put the player in random mode. But i had to skip all the songs forward ! That, I believe, is a clear sign that i really don't like this album : there is no song that gives me the will to listen to 4 minutes of it.

Even musterion tends to drag on too much at the end.. :(

and i love hill groove too. i love all the previous albums of satch !!

punchingboy - May 12, 2008 09:23 PM (GMT)
I really like Revelation, Diddle-Y-A-Doo-Dat, Overdriver, and I just Wanna Rock. Those are the ones I can think of the names of right now.

Jonas - May 13, 2008 12:52 AM (GMT)
Musterion for me.
Then probably Andalusia and Revelation.
The other tunes are quite good but don't have this kind of "Yes" feeling to them if you know what I mean.
