Title: Eric Clapton Crossroads Festival DVD
Description: who plays the last song on the credits

Adrian13 - September 8, 2005 09:19 AM (GMT)
Just watched the dvd - Eric Clapton Crossroads Festivals - so many great guitarists on it. really worth a buy even though at times i felt it swayed towards the bluesier side of things a lil too much.. still a joy to watch!

Does anyone know who plays the star spangled banner on the credits portion of the 2nd disc? - sounds a bit like Vai, but not sure..

thanks

hey thats really cool id never even bothered watching the credits before - i dont have a clue who it is but id imagine Vai was the only one on that dvd who would be capable/ interested in playing a song like that...

who is on the dvd? mainly blues artists like eric clapton (obviously), Robert Cray,Jimmie Vaughan (plays texas flood at the start i think) B.B King, J.J Cale...
but also Santana makes an appearance, and so does John Mclaughlin, Larry Carlton, Steve Vai, Joe Walsh, and Eric Johnson.

theres great variety but like adrian13 said it is heavily based on the blusier side so you only get 1 or two tracks from most non blues artists. lots of great improvisation though - in some cases several guitarists on stage at once a bit like G3 but blues.

nah i don;t think it's vai.
you no at the start of the dvd when it shows shorts of all the different guiitars playing on the dvd and there that clip with the black gibson i think,it's just after jimmi vauhgn has a litle say and it's before buddy guy(black strat with white dots).I think thats who's playing it mainly cause of the tone is almost the same.
anyway if anyone knows who that is i'm bettin thas who playes it.

What a great dvd! Vai's song is superb! It was the first time I actually heard Vai and it blew me out of my seat!

Thanks guys. I guess short of asking clapton himself we will never know. hah. whenever I hear a good piece of music i just have this inner desire to know who the artiste is. its a habit.

anyhow get the crossroads dvd - there's eric johnson in it too! and john mayall got my respect after i watched him improvise too. except for his weird facial contortions, man the guy has feel!

It is Neal Schon (From Journey). That's his version of the national anthem, its awesome. You got it right about the guitar too: that's his artist model with gibson its sweet has a fernandes sustainer (thats how he gets that tone).

Very good bluesy DVD:) Very liked Vai's perfomance. IMO here's even better version of I'm The Hell Outta Here than on G3 DVD. And.. its first time I've seen Eric Johnson playing.:) Good, but Vai's better:D
Oh.. And of course amazing perfomance form ZZ TOP. Its fun what things they do with their beards.:)

One of my friends has the DVD, and for me it wasn't the first time I'd heard Vai, but the first I'd seen him and his band live, I believe. An excellent performance indeed.
